Lead and execute a diversified, efficient customer acquisition engine for a consumer subscription genomics company. Own paid acquisition strategy, budgets, metrics (CAC, LTV, payback), creative testing, experimentation, and channel diversification (creators, affiliates, partnerships, referrals). Act as a hands-on player-coach, improving reporting, systems, and cross-functional alignment to scale profitable growth.
Sequencing is building the interface between humanity and its DNA.
Using clinical-grade whole genome sequencing, AI, and a rapidly expanding ecosystem of genomic applications, we help people better understand themselves, their health, and their future through their DNA.
The human genome is one of the most valuable and underutilized resources in the world. Our mission is to transform the human genome into a lifelong source of personalized guidance and build the trusted home for every genome on Earth.
As the world’s largest direct-to-consumer whole genome sequencing platform, Sequencing is helping define the future of AI-powered personalized health.
We’re a profitable, venture-backed, fully remote company building category-defining products that help people better understand themselves through their DNA.
Sequencing is looking for an exceptional Director of Growth to scale our established, multimillion-dollar customer acquisition engine and build what comes next.
This is a hands-on, player-coach role for a growth leader with deep experience in consumer subscription or recurring-revenue businesses. You’ll own acquisition strategy and results, determine where additional investment can generate attractive returns, and develop new channels and approaches that diversify our growth engine.
You’ll work alongside a lean growth and creative team, staying close to campaign performance, creative testing, measurement, and experimentation. The challenge isn’t simply spending more—it’s scaling efficiently while protecting customer quality, payback, retention, and long-term value.
Scale and diversify customer acquisition
- Lead the strategy and hands-on execution of a significant paid acquisition program.
- Develop new growth strategies as traditional performance marketing tactics mature.
- Identify, test, and scale complementary acquisition opportunities across creators, affiliates, partnerships, referrals, and emerging channels.
- Build a diversified, repeatable growth engine that does not rely on a single channel or tactic.
Drive profitable growth
- Manage customer acquisition as an investment portfolio, allocating budget across channels, audiences, creative, and experiments based on expected returns and long-term customer value.
- Own performance against CAC, LTV, payback period, contribution margin, retention, and customer quality.
- Determine where additional investment can generate attractive returns, recognize when performance is deteriorating, and adjust quickly.
- Connect acquisition performance with downstream subscription behavior, cohort performance, and lifetime value.
Lead from the front
- Work alongside the team to analyze performance, review creative, launch experiments, and solve problems.
- Partner with creative leaders to translate performance insights into new concepts, messaging, and tests.
- Build and optimize a creator-led performance creative pipeline.
- Improve the reporting, systems, and operating rhythms needed to run a sophisticated growth function with a lean team.
- Communicate growth performance, priorities, and risks clearly across the company.
Who you are
- You have a Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Marketing, Analytics, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in growth, performance, or acquisition marketing, with meaningful experience in a consumer subscription, membership, or recurring-revenue business.
- You have personally managed and scaled substantial paid media budgets—not solely through agencies or from an executive distance.
- You understand the full economics of acquisition, including CAC, payback, LTV, contribution margin, retention, and customer quality.
- You have successfully adapted a growth strategy as established channels matured or became less efficient.
- You have built or meaningfully expanded acquisition beyond an existing paid engine.
- You are a highly accountable player-coach who sets strategy, owns outcomes, and remains actively involved in execution.
- You use data to investigate performance, form hypotheses, design experiments, and scale what works.
- You have a strong command of attribution, incrementality, funnel analysis, cohort performance, experimentation, and unit economics.
- You are a strong creative partner who can turn performance insights into concepts, messaging, and tests.
- You use AI to accelerate analysis, experimentation, creative development, and execution—and know where human judgment matters most.
- You prioritize well, move quickly, and bring structure to a fast-moving environment.
