Summary of Position:

Reporting to the Senior Director, FP&A, the Director of FP&A will support G&A, Global Medical Affairs, and Operations at Scholar Rock. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of planning and delivering against financial objectives in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders. This person will also serve as a strategic partner, helping frame decisions, evaluate options, and drive value creation. Success in this role requires effective communication, organization, and collaboration skills. It is an excellent opportunity to help build a critical cross-functional capability at a growing biotechnology company with multiple product candidates.

Position Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary finance partner for G&A leadership, Global Medical Affairs and Operations
  • Support for all FP&A activities including budgeting/forecasting, long-range planning, scenario modeling, and financial analysis for strategic initiatives
  • Coordinate with accounting on month-end and quarterly close tasks, procure-to-pay processes, preparation of quarterly schedules, and support of external reporting and related audit inquiries
  • Prepare timely monthly budget-to-actual analyses, including variance reporting and results summaries.
  • Drive accountability for G&A leadership, Global Medical Affairs and Operations spending with regular business reviews with functional heads
  • Strive for continuous improvement of FP&A processes, with the goal of improving efficiency while maintaining flexibility to adapt to future business needs
  • Develop and deliver training programs and support change management efforts to drive adoption of new FP&A tools, systems, and ways of working across the organization
  • Support ad hoc strategic initiatives as opportunities arise and capabilities expand, including business development analysis, partner support, and financing strategy.
  • Leverage technology to driver efficiencies in the finance function
  • Assist with developing Board of Directors and Executive Level materials

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of progressive finance experience in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment
  • Advanced degree in finance and/or business preferred
  • Prior experience supporting G&A functions in a cross-functional environment
  • Excellent presentation skills to deliver information effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Strong partnering and communication skills with the ability to distill financial information into a concise and actionable message
  • Advanced Excel skills to perform complex analyses that support key decision-making
  • Knowledge of fundamental accounting principles
  • Strong organizational and critical thinking skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at one time
  • Experience with Adaptive Insights and/or SAP considered an asset
