Key Responsibilities
- Support the execution of external communications and media relations strategies that strengthen MetLife Investment Management's reputation among target audiences.
- Develop compelling narratives, thought leadership content, executive messaging, media materials, and digital communications that showcase MIM's investment expertise and strategic priorities.
- Partner with senior leaders, investment teams, research professionals, distribution teams, and marketing partners to identify and amplify timely storytelling opportunities aligned with business objectives.
- Manage proactive and reactive media engagement, including spokesperson preparation, issues management support, and response strategies for reputationally sensitive matters.
- Coordinate measurement and reporting activities to evaluate communications effectiveness and identify opportunities to increase visibility, engagement, and impact.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience in external communications, public relations, media relations, or corporate communications, preferably within asset management, investments, or financial services.
- Experience developing and executing external communications and media relations programs that support business objectives and strengthen organizational reputation.
- Strong relationships with financial, business, and trade media, with experience securing coverage and managing media engagement opportunities.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, including experience creating press releases, executive messaging, bylined content, talking points, Q&As, social media posts, and other external communications materials.
- Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to communicate complex investment, economic, and business topics to external audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting communications strategies for institutional asset management, investment management, insurance, or broader financial services organizations.
- Experience managing issues, reputational risks, or crisis communications in a highly regulated environment.
- Familiarity with media monitoring, measurement, and analytics tools used to evaluate communications effectiveness and inform strategy.
- Experience leveraging AI-powered communications tools to enhance research, content development, media monitoring, insights generation, and overall communication effectiveness.
