Summary of Role:
The Director, Events is a highly strategic, results-driven leader for our global events team and is a combination of a strategic thinker and events executioner. This leader will oversee the planning and management of approximately 200 annual events — including trade shows, conferences, customer summits, partner events, roadshows, and webinars — with an annual budget of over $2 million, and a global team of Event managers of 4. The Director of Events will play a critical role in shaping how our brand is experienced in the market, ensuring all events generate measurable impact on pipeline growth, customer engagement, and brand visibility. This role requires a seasoned events professional who can balance strategic vision with hands-on execution, while managing a high-performing team and collaborating cross-functionally with marketing, sales, customer success, and executive leadership.
Primary Responsibilities:
Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and own the global events strategy aligned with marketing and sales goals.
- Build and manage a tiered portfolio of events(flagship events, regional programs, and scalable virtual experiences) to maximize reach and ROI.
- Design and implement repeatable and scalable processes for event planning, execution, and measurement that can be adapted across different event tiers.
- Lead and mentor a team of event managers and coordinators; establish best practices and scalable operations.
- Manage and optimize a $2M+ annual events budget, ensuring ROI and efficiency.
Event Planning & Execution
- Oversee end-to-end planning for 200+ events annually, including large-scale industry conferences, executive summits, webinars, partner events, and roadshows.
- Standardize repeatable frameworks for logistics, vendor management, speaker preparation, content development, and follow-up.
- Negotiate contracts with venues, platforms, and vendors to maximize value and manage risk.
- Ensure consistent, high-quality brand presence across all in-person, hybrid, and virtual events.
Performance & Measurement
- Define KPIs and success metrics for all events, with an emphasis on pipeline contribution, lead quality, and customer engagement.
- Partner with marketing operations to track performance and produce data-driven reports on event ROI.
- Continuously refine event processes and tiered frameworks based on performance insights and industry best practices.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with product marketing, demand generation, and sales to ensure events support go-to-market priorities.
- Work with digital marketing teams to amplify event and webinar reach through integrated campaigns, social media, and PR.
- Collaborate with executives to position thought leaders at high-impact events and secure marquee speaking opportunities.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in events management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing large-scale programs and teams.
- Proven track record managing high-volume event portfolios (200+ annually) and multi-million-dollar budgets.
- Expertise in designing scalable and repeatable event frameworks across in-person, hybrid, and virtual formats (including webinars).
- Strong vendor management, contract negotiation, and logistics expertise.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in B2B software or technology marketing strongly preferred.
