Role overview
We're looking for a forward-thinking, experienced Director of Engineering to lead our team focused on building software solutions that accelerate our B2B dealer customers. This leader will have the opportunity to collaborate with a high-impact set of partners and stakeholders from across the business to develop and execute on our growing dealer-focused, data-rich product strategy. The ideal candidate is a leader who can balance the needs of our business today with the innovation required to stay ahead tomorrow, including the rapid evolution of and opportunities presented by AI. You'll play a critical role in enabling our business, fostering a high-performing team, and ensuring our dealers see us as a strategic partner, helping them to operate and grow the most successful business with a set of tools focused on solving their most important problems.
What you'll do
  • Build a High-Performance Culture: Manage, mentor, and grow a multi-team engineering organization, fostering an environment of technical excellence, psychological safety, innovation, and rapid iteration.
  • Strategic Collaboration: You'll act as the primary technical partner to Product, Sales, Data, and multiple other functions. You'll translate complex business goals into a robust technical roadmap.
  • Leverage Technical Expertise: Drawing on your "been-there-done-that" experience, you'll provide guidance and architectural oversight to the team, acting as a catalyst for rich conversations and strong technical decisions. You'll be a trusted resource, helping to solve complex problems and ensuring our systems are robust, scalable, and secure.
  • Develop Strategic Vision: You'll play a critical role in developing and championing the long-term strategic roadmap for our Inventory pillar. This includes evaluating and incorporating emerging technologies, such as AI offerings, to enhance our capabilities. You'll partner with internal partners/stakeholders and external vendors to develop forward-looking solutions.

What you'll bring
  • Impactful Experience: 10+ years of engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in a Director-level role or equivalent, managing multiple teams and managers.
  • People Leadership: A passion for leading, mentoring, and developing engineering teams. You know how to hire top talent and create an environment where they can thrive.
  • Innovative Mindset: You're curious about and comfortable with emerging technologies, particularly in the AI space, and can identify how they can be leveraged to create a competitive advantage.
  • Passion for Collaboration: You are an amazing collaborator who can explain a technical bottleneck to a Sales VP and a business pivot to a Senior Engineer without losing the nuance of either. We collaborate to realize shared wins for the business and work without ego.
  • Technical Acumen: You have deep, hands-on expertise in software systems. You should be able to dive into technical details and steer conversations when needed.
  • Data DNA: You are data-driven and have led teams developing and/or integrating ML/AI insights to deliver customer value.
  • Strategic Leadership: You have a demonstrated ability to think strategically, build a long-term vision, and translate that vision into an actionable roadmap.
