About the Role
Ana Luisa is looking for a hands-on Director of Planning to own end-to-end planning, demand and supply, across every channel we sell in: our e-commerce site, Amazon and marketplaces, wholesale and department store partners, B2B, and a growing network of retail stores. You will own the decisions: what we buy, when we buy it, where inventory sits, and which channel gets it when supply is tight. You will set the allocation strategy and the weeks-of-supply strategy, and you will set ambitious KPIs for the planning function and hold the team to them over time.
We have built a state-of-the-art internal planning platform that consolidates all of our planning data and connects our sales and inventory across channels in one place. It covers demand projections, open-to-buy management, purchasing, and inventory and transfer decisions for each of our channels. You will be its architect from the business side: shaping how the platform evolves to serve the planning function, turning manual decisions into rules and automation, and making it the single source of truth for how Ana Luisa plans.
This role reports to the CEO, sits on the Ana Luisa leadership team, and manages one Supply Chain Planner, with the team growing as the function matures. You will be the cross-functional leader of planning, working closely with Operations, Finance, Merchandising, Production, Sales, and our channel owners. This is a highly visible seat with real influence over how the business buys, invests, and grows.
Location: Ideal candidate lives in the Midwest or on the East Coast.

In your first 6–12 months, you will likely:

  • Take ownership of our internal planning platform and set the roadmap for how it evolves to serve planning across every channel
  • Define the allocation rules and weeks-of-supply targets by channel that the team follows day to day
  • Set the KPIs for the planning function (forecast accuracy, in-stock rate, inventory turns, weeks of supply, aged inventory) with ambitious targets, and report on them every month
  • Automate recurring decisions across channels, starting with replenishment, transfers, and reorders
  • Bring structure, scalable processes, and rigor to the monthly S&OP cadence and to the new processes the business will need as it grows
  • Build a tight working relationship with Finance on budget, open-to-buy, and cash flow
What You'll Own
  • End-to-end planning: Own demand and supply planning as one function, from the forecast to the purchase order to where each unit sits. You own the decisions, not just the recommendations.
  • Demand forecasting: Own the consolidated rolling 12-month demand forecast across all channels: e-commerce, Amazon/FBA, marketplaces, wholesale, retail stores, and B2B. Own the forecasting methodology (statistical baseline plus judgmental overlay) and drive forecast accuracy (MAPE and bias) by channel.
  • Supply planning: Own reorder and production planning with suppliers: MOQs, lead times, PO timing, and expediting decisions, balancing service level against cash and freight cost.
  • Allocation strategy: Set the strategy and write the allocation rules for how inventory is distributed across channels, including who gets the unit when demand exceeds supply. Make the call, defend it commercially with data, and make sure the team applies the rules consistently.
  • Weeks-of-supply strategy: Set weeks-of-supply and service level targets by channel and product tier, and manage inventory to them.
  • Inventory investment & OTB: Own the annual inventory investment plan and open-to-buy, keeping purchasing within plan and aligned to the company's budget, cash cycle, and working capital targets.
  • Inventory decisions & transfers: Own inventory positioning and transfer decisions across channels, including Amazon replenishment, retail store replenishment, and initial allocation for new store openings.
  • Inventory health: Drive inventory turns and inventory health (A/B/C mix, aged and excess stock) and bring liquidation recommendations to Merchandising and Sales.
  • Platform architecture: Act as the business architect of our internal planning platform. Define requirements, prioritize the roadmap with Engineering, and shape projection modeling, OTB management, inventory decisions, and transfer logic so the platform keeps pace with the business.
  • Automation & rules: Turn recurring manual decisions into rules and automation that simplify our processes across channels.
  • KPIs & accountability: Set ambitious KPIs for the planning function, track them over time, and own the improvement plan when we fall short.
  • S&OP leadership: Run the monthly S&OP process end to end with Merchandising, Sales, Retail, Operations, Production, and Finance: building consensus, surfacing risk, and holding the organization accountable to what was agreed.
  • Finance partnership: Bring planning closer to Finance. Plug inventory plans into the budget and cash flow forecast, and give leadership a clear view of the working capital and margin impact of planning decisions.
  • Process & standards: Bring structure, scalable processes, and rigor to existing planning processes, design the new ones we need, and own the master data and process standards behind them.
  • Team & leadership: Manage and develop the Supply Chain Planner and grow the team as the function scales. As a member of the leadership team, contribute to company-wide decisions beyond planning.
What You'll Bring
  • 8+ years in demand, inventory, merchandise, or supply chain planning, including 2–3 years leading a planning function or team of 2 or more.
  • Multichannel experience across at least three of: DTC e-commerce, Amazon/marketplaces, wholesale or department stores, and physical retail — including personally arbitrating inventory allocation between competing channels when supply was constrained.
  • Fashion, jewelry, or accessories experience strongly preferred; otherwise consumer goods with high SKU counts, seasonality, and frequent newness.
  • Engineering degree (or equivalent quantitative field — operations research, supply chain, statistics). Advanced modeling is a given; SQL, BI tools such as Looker, and scripting (Python or similar) are a strong plus.
  • Ownership of an inventory or open-to-buy budget, with a clear grasp of the working capital and margin implications of planning decisions — able to speak fluently to both sides of a buy call, not just the units.
  • Comfort operating without infrastructure: proven ability to build planning discipline from spreadsheets and BI tools rather than inherit it from an existing system, ideally combined with exposure to what "good" planning looks like at a larger, more mature company.
  • Hands-on by default. We are not hiring a strategist to direct a team; we are hiring the person who builds the forecast, places the reorder, and writes the query.
  • Strong cross-functional influence and fluent English; Spanish is a plus.

What You'll Love About Us

  • Flexible Time Off: Flexible WFH policy (2x per week), unlimited PTO , 401k matching and more
  • Brand Perks: Employee discount; welcome gift card, Birthday Gift Card
  • Office Perks: fully-stocked kitchen with unlimited snacks and beverages.
  • Events: Office lunches; in-office events
  • Other Benefits: Company sponsored parking, fun & friendly company culture
