We’re looking for a Director, Business Insights & Analytics to own the data and insights function across PSA Marketplace, including PSA Exchange, Vault, and eBay Consignment businesses. You’ll transform transactional, marketing, operational, product, and behavioral data into decisions the Marketplace leadership team acts on.
This is a hands-on, part strategist, part executor role. Our ideal candidate is a player / coach that leads a lean team and acts as the connective tissue between the business, central data, product, and key cross functional partner teams.
You’ll report to the President, Marketplace. We believe that there is significant value in in-person collaboration. If you live within a 1 hour commuting distance to one of our offices, you will be required to be onsite most of the time. Remote or hybrid candidates will also be considered. This will be discussed further as part of the recruiting process.
What You’ll Do
Define and own the Marketplace analytics stack to accurately and consistently monitor key business metrics such as: # of sellers / buyers / vaulters, GMV, AUM, take rate, LTV & cohort analysis, and liquidity / conversion funnels
Strategic sounding board: partner with GMs and BD lead to pressure-test emerging ideas with data. In an advisory capacity, size opportunities, validate assumptions, and flag where data is inconclusive or unavailable
Cross-functional coordination: collaborate with Product, Engineering, Finance, Operations and Marketing to ensure each function works off a shared, consistent view of Marketplace data
Product insights: partner with product to understand feature usage, funnel efficiency, and user cohort performance across the pods to inform Marketplace leadership
Marketing insights: partner with Marketing to deliver acquisition, attribution, and segment data to inform Marketplace-specific marketing investments and GTM motions
Data infrastructure requirements: partner closely with Central Data team Engineering and Product teams to inform data models / data infrastructure requirements, ensuring business requirements are appropriately captured to build insights off of
Fraud coordination: partner with the Fraud team and GMs on shared data signals - anomalous transaction patterns, account behavior, and listing-level risk indicators - via data-sharing and pattern-flagging
Deliver recurring insights and ad hoc analysis to the GMs and support Board / Exec reporting - examples include: vault cohort analysis, inform bidding engine logic
Who You Are
7-10+ years of experience working with data to drive analyses & business insights, ideally in Marketplaces, FinTech, or eCommerce industries
Player / Coach DNA: you are equally as comfortable writing SQL queries yourself as you are guiding, mentoring, and managing a lean team of analysts
Strong business acumen: you are strategic and curious. You ask questions to deeply understand the business and can carry forward analyses, test hypotheses, and present back structured recommendations that solve ambiguous problems
Strong communicator: you can communicate across all levels of the org, effectively translating between high level business leaders, to analysts, to engineers and technical counterparts
Technical expertise: experience working with large datasets using SQL, building data abstractions to support reporting and analysis, and creating shareable deliverables for stakeholders in BI tools like Tableau, Mode, or Lightdash; experience building data pipelines with dbt a plus
Collectibles or alternative-asset market familiarity is a plus, not required
Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $160,000 - 260,000. Actual compensation on this range varies based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including location, job level, experience, and skill set.
