We’re financing the future of energy

Crux is the capital platform for the clean economy. We modernize capital raising and deployment for clean energy and critical infrastructure with solutions across advisory, investments, technology, and intelligence.

Our team of 120+ is composed of experts in energy, tax, finance, government, and technology. We have raised $77 million in capital from some of the best investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, Lowercarbon Capital, New System Ventures, Overture, Ardent Venture Partners, QED, Canapi, and others. These funds are joined by strategic investors including Pattern Energy, Clearway Energy, EDF Renewables, Intersect Power, LS Power, Orsted, Hartree Partners, Liberty Mutual Strategic Ventures, MassMutual Ventures, and OMERS Ventures.

An inflection point in American energy and manufacturing

Energy demand is growing for the first time in decades, driving an urgent need for more affordable and reliable electricity. More electricity requires new clean energy infrastructure and strong domestic supply chains for minerals and components, as well as large amounts of capital.

Traditional project financing is opaque, fragmented, and analog. At Crux, we’re changing that. Through unmatched insights and expertise, white-glove service, purpose-built tools, and risk underwriting, we power a more prosperous, clean, and secure energy future.

We are scaling quickly and looking for team members who are eager to combine deep expertise with an AI- and tech-forward mindset.

The Role

Crux's Market Intelligence team produces research across macroeconomic analysis, tax credit market tracking, and forward-looking commentary on clean energy policy, trusted by developers, lenders, and institutional capital. We're building a subscription research business around that expertise, and we need a founding commercial lead to take it to market.

This is a revenue-owning role. You'll build the go-to-market motion for Crux's subscription intelligence products largely from scratch. Your customers span three distinct markets: energy companies (utilities, IPPs, developers); commodity trading desks and physical/financial traders who need a real-time read on tax credit and power market dynamics; and institutional investors, asset managers, insurers, pension and infrastructure funds, allocating capital into the space. You'll report into the Market Intelligence leadership team and work closely with the broader market intelligence teams to understand upcoming product releases and key investment catalysts.

What You'll Own

  • Build and run the full-cycle sales motion for Crux's subscription research and custom report products, from prospecting through close and renewal.

  • Segment and prioritize the market across energy companies, commodity trading houses, and institutional investors, and tailor the pitch to what each buyer actually needs from the research.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key prospects and clients

  • Design and iterate on pricing, packaging, and tiering for subscription products as the buyer base diversifies beyond any single vertical.

  • Partner directly with Crux's Market Intelligence analysts to translate client feedback into product direction

  • Track deal activity and market-moving developments, tax credit transfers, M&A activity, and policy developments, well enough to open a conversation with a prospect on their terms.

  • Represent Crux's research franchise at industry conferences and client events to build the brand and the pipeline simultaneously.

What You Bring

  • 8+ years of business development or sales experience selling research, data, or information services to corporate, trading, or institutional investor customers; experience selling into energy or commodities markets is a strong plus.

  • A demonstrated ability to build a new revenue line, you've either launched a product commercially or grown one well past its early accounts.

  • A consultative, credibility-first sales style; you can hold your own in a room with a trading desk head or a portfolio manager without leaning on analysts.

  • Working fluency in energy markets, commodities, or capital markets, enough to have a real conversation about what a prospect is trying to solve for.

  • Willingness to travel for client meetings, conferences, and industry events.

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree a plus, not a requirement.

  • FINRA SIE, Series 79, and 63, or willingness to obtain them under Crux's broker-dealer sponsorship.

  • Compensation:

    • Compensation: $275,000s - $350,000s, depending on years of exp. & revenue scope, including bonus, not inclusive of equity value.

    • Focus unremittingly on customers: Our first obligation is to our customers and partners, and we keep their needs front and center in everything we do.

    • Demonstrate ownership: We are all owners of Crux. This is our team, our company, our product and we show that to each other.

    • Convene a team that reflects the breadth of experiences in the country: We’re building a team with a wide range of backgrounds and a culture where everyone can thrive.

We provide equal employment opportunities to all applicants without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by law.
