POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Billing Operations will lead a team focused on streamlining the billing process as well as ensuring billing completeness and accuracy across our product suite. This strategic leadership position oversees the establishment and maintenance of billing infrastructure, manages billing integrity, data reconciliation, and billing system configuration. The Director will partner with Finance, Product, and Commercial teams to drive operational excellence, implement best practices, and establish standardized processes across the organization.
KEY/SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Billing Infrastructure & Configuration
- Design and implement billing system architecture to support complex pricing models and subscription management
- Configure and maintain customer billing profiles, contract terms, and payment arrangements
- Ensure compliance with revenue recognition standards (ASC 606) for subscription and usage-based billing
- Manage product catalog configuration, pricing tiers, and billing rules in CPQ and billing systems
- Partner with Finance and Accounting to validate billing accuracy against contractual terms
Billing Integrity & Accuracy
- Oversee invoice generation, validation, and accuracy across all customer segments, including:
- Standard subscription invoicing
- Usage-based and overage billing
- Credits, adjustments, and billing exceptions
- Establish billing controls and audit procedures using:
- Automated reconciliation tools
- Exception reporting and root-cause analysis
- Conduct periodic billing audits and implement corrective action plans
Quote-to-Cash & Billing Operations
- Manage end-to-end quote-to-cash process, including CPQ configuration and order management
- Support customer lifecycle billing transitions for:
- Upgrades, downgrades, and plan changes
- Renewals, cancellations, and churn processing
- Own billing operations SLAs, escalation procedures, and issue resolution
- Partner with Sales and Customer Success on billing-related customer inquiries and disputes
Billing Systems & Technology
- Manage integration between the billing platform, SAP ERP, Salesforce CRM, and financial systems
- Ensure data integrity and reconciliation between billing systems and the general ledger
Billing Analytics & Financial Reporting
- Prepare accurate billing revenue reports and reconciliations for Finance and executive leadership
- Analyze billing trends, exceptions, and key performance metrics to drive continuous improvement
- Support revenue recognition analysis, audit requirements, and ad-hoc billing projects

REQUIRED SKILLS/PREFERRED SKILLS:
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in SaaS billing operations, subscription management, or revenue operations
- 3+ years of team leadership or direct management experience
- Expert proficiency with subscription billing platforms (Stripe Billing, Zuora, Chargebee, or similar)
- Deep expertise in SaaS billing models including recurring, usage-based, seat-based, and hybrid pricing, with strong knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition
- Hands-on experience with Salesforce and SAP ERP systems; prior experience in healthcare software (practice management, patient engagement, claims) or related industries strongly preferred
EDUCATION (Required/Preferred):
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
Total Compensation Range (inclusive of bonus): $145,000 - $160,000
