JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

Job Title:  Director of Admission

 

Salary Range: 100k-115k


 

 

JOB SUMMARY: The Director of Admission is responsible for managing a comprehensive recruitment strategy for first-time and transfer students, both domestically and internationally. The Director is responsible for coordinating the recruitment, outreach, application review, event strategy, undergraduate marketing review and enrollment operations while supervising the undergraduate admission counselors, visit and events, and operations team members. The Director will serve on the Enrollment Management leadership team. The Director is expected to inspire staff and students and to provide a positive team culture that aids the University in successfully achieving enrollment goals.

 

Essential Job Functions: 

 

Admission Responsibilities:

  1. Lead all aspects of recruitment, selection and enrollment of new first-year and transfer students
  2. Provide direct supervision of staff, oversee territory management and activities related to recruitment and outreach
  3. Coordinate hiring process, training and professional development of UG admission staff
  4. Manage the undergraduate admission budget including travel, advertising, publications and recruitment events
  5. Analyze recruitment data and continually assess recruitment activities
  6. Assist in the development and management of the communications and marketing strategy for recruitment and financial aid
  7. Collaborate with University employees to continuously innovate admission recruitment strategy
  8. Manage vendor relationships related to admissions activities

 

Event-related Responsibilities:

  1. Support coordination, planning, and management of all undergraduate admission events, both in-person and virtual
  2. Aid in the assignment of staffing for campus visit program including daily tours, Saturday/Holiday tours, personalized campus visits, group visits, and virtual visits
  3. Continuously evaluate events and impact, collaborate with University employees and other stakeholders in being creative with admission events

 

Operations-related Responsibilities:

  1. Assists in planning overall admission strategy and evaluation of lead/inquiry management plans and internal review processes relative to ability to meet and exceed enrollment goals for undergraduate admission
  2. Direct operations staff in training of department staff in the effective use of Slate
  3. Collaborate inbuilding infrastructure as well as system integrations with other campus applications
  4. Document, evaluate, and make recommendations for improvements to business processes to improve efficiencies in recruitment, communication, and yield
  5. Satisfy institutional data needs used in integration, queries, planning, analysis and marketing
  6. Analyze data to ensure integrity and accuracy
  7. Supports technical projects relating to the functionality of the University's CRM software (Slate).

 

Communication-related Responsibilities:

  1. Manage communications and print creation related to campus visits and events
  2. Establish cadence of communication campaigns
  3. Write, edit, and review ad hoc email communications
  4. Update visual assets for internal and external use
  5. Copy-edit print communication pieces
  6. Establish population lists for print and mail communications

 

Ad Hoc Duties and Responsibilities: The Director of Admission will partially assist in and be responsible for all aspects of the admission and recruitment process including but not limited to:

 

  1. Counseling prospective students and families throughout the college application and selection process
  2. Collaborate with the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management on Division initiatives
  3. Assisting guidance professionals, faculty, alumni/ae, and prospective students and families to better understand the college’s mission through personal interviews, group presentations, and extensive follow-up communication
  4. Assisting in recruitment related events both on- and off-campus, while representing the University with the utmost professionalism
  5. Flexibility, dedication, initiative, confidentiality, and the ability to learn are expected
  6. Complete routine reports related to recruitment, projections, personal schedule, travel, special programs, and professional development
  7. Work with current students, staff, faculty, alumni and other stakeholders that support the recruitment of students
  8. Knowledge of enrollment management best practices, NACAC guiding principles, Family Education Rights and Privacy Act
  9. Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned.

 

Tier Structure: This position is hybrid (Tier 2). This position will work on campus for 3 days per week and work remotely for 2 days per week. During travel seasons, school vacation weeks, event weeks, and special events – this position will be working fully in-person and on campus.

Qualifications

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED BY THE JOB:

 

Education level: Master’s Degree required.

 

Skills/Requirements of the Job: 7+ years of experience working in a similar capacity within higher education or another related industry/position. Experience managing staff.

 

Computer skills: Knowledge of Slate by Technolutions (enrollment management software) is required. Proficiency with MS Professional software packages is preferred.
