Scope:
The Digital Substation Product Manager drives the overall business strategy of the digital and conventional substation automation solutions within Grid Automation & Software, focusing on market demand, product management, and technology differentiation. GA&S substation automation solutions (SAS) include DS AgileTM, GridBeatsTM iDS and all conventional and digital architectures which deliver SAS to the transmission segment. The Digital Substation Product Manager will be responsible to align, coordinate and provide inputs to all other PMs responsible for conventional and innovative protection relays/controllers, similarly with the Solution Architect Leader for Transmission Protection, Automation and Control (PAC). He/she will also be the interface for the Distribution and Industry (D&I) Portfolio Leader to align on the overall strategy and architectures. The individual will have direct responsibility over the GridBeatsTM ICT and SCT engineering toolsuite and DS Agile product roadmaps.
The Digital Substation Product Manager will report directly to the Transmission PAC Portfolio Leader overseeing the industrialization, go to market strategy and commercial development of the portfolio, interacting with Grid Automation & Software’s supply chain, regions, customers, and industry leaders. He/she will also interact within the broader GE Vernova, Electrification segment and Grid teams to maximize collaboration, cross-business initiatives, impact, and performance.
Major Responsibilities:
- Develop customer connections, understand industry trends & growth opportunities for related segments
- Define digital substation and centralized protection and control strategies, products/solutions roadmap, and business cases
- Drive technology differentiation and roadmap, in coordination with GA&S CTO Organization
- Manage products & solutions life cycle, in coordination with GA&S regions and Global Supply Chain
- Partner with GA&S regions to define marketing, commercial growth, delivery, and services strategies
- Build an efficient organization structure and diverse teams. Develop talents and capabilities to support individuals’ development and maximize business performance, create a culture of innovation and accountability
- Develop internal and external relationships to identify, lead or support cross-portfolio initiatives and projects
- Contribute to GA&S’ long term strategy definition and execution, in coordination with the GA&S CTO Organization
- Propose partnerships and acquisitions to meet business growth initiatives.
- Lead strategic customer engagements, executive presentations, and solution positioning for key bids, tenders, and framework agreements
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and certifications (e.g., IEC, IEEE, cybersecurity standards) and support regulatory qualification efforts
- Drive installed-base strategy including upgrades, migration paths, retrofit solutions, and service monetization
- Establish product governance mechanisms including roadmap reviews, release gates, risk management, and stakeholder alignment
- Coordinate with engineering and program teams to ensure on-time, on-quality product releases and successful industrialization
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Master’s degree from an accredited university or college
- 15+ years of experience in product management, business management and technology development
- Outstanding knowledge of protection and control products and solutions for T&D
- Comfortable in taking initiative in thought leadership, innovation and creativity
- Strong business & technical acumen. A strong interest in business development and commercial aspects is an essential component to be successful in this role
- Strategic thinker with hands-on problem-solving mindset ready to take decisions even when uncertainty exists
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and influencing skills
- Domain knowledge in electricity transmission, distribution, industrial and automation markets
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional global teams and influence stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience managing complex product portfolios or platforms in a global industrial or energy environment
- Strong understanding of software-driven solutions, digital platforms, and modern system architectures
- Track record of delivering growth and measurable business impact
