OneMain is an innovative, digital focused company who is transforming the way our customers think about and use financial products. We use a customer-first approach to develop incredible features and experiences that empower our customers, and our product team is at the center of it all. As a product leader at OneMain, you and the rest of your product team are responsible for improving the financial well-being of our customers while ensuring the health of our business. You’ll do this with a combination of instinct, analytics, empathy, influence, and personal drive to lead your team to build and ship creative solutions to tough problems. Removing these barriers while delivering on our business objectives is core to what our product team does.

An ideal member of the product strategy team has a proven track record of delivering amazing customer experiences and results at scale. You have a strong bias for action, and you’ll do whatever it takes to get it done. You are a strategic thinker who can see over the distant horizon, but also jump right into the mix and own the execution details. You are passionate about solving customer problems and driven to deliver outcomes that help our customers improve their financial lives and our business reach our goals. You can balance the art and science of product management, mixing strong data-driven focus with product intuition to challenge the boundaries of what a great product experience can do.

What You’ll Do

Support Multi-Year Digital Strategy Initiative

  • Partner with Digital leadership to shape and execute a critical multi-year digital initiative spanning several business areas and functions, and driving top-level visibility across the organization.

  • Act as a key driver in defining a product strategy that integrates design, technical requirements, and operational execution.

  • Craft strategies to protect core business performance goals while driving large scale change in UX enhancement of our products and features.

  • Apply prioritization frameworks to aide teams in scope decisions and refinements toward release objectives and MVPs.

  • Apply agile product development and customer centric design thinking principles to support several product verticals within the company in delivering on a unified deliverable.

  • Partner with various functions (from Analytics to Legal to Development Operations) to ensure program health and market readiness.

Drive Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Ensure cohesion across several teams collaborating toward a single objective, identifying and monitoring dependencies and ensuring unified delivery from concept to release.

  • Exercise influence upwards and sidewise across product lanes and cross functional partners spanning technology, legal, marketing, operations, analytics, and more.

  • Maintain a continuous bird’s eye view of all program priorities, risks, issues, and status and take proactive action to derisk program goals.

Support Program Management

  • Create and maintain roadmaps to provide visibility and alignment across working teams and to support executive reporting.

  • Lead scrum-style coordination of cross functional teams to ensure clear communication and unblocking of issues and dependencies.

  • Contribute and lead aspects of go-to-market planning partnering with operational and marketing business partners to ensure launch readiness.

What You’ll Need

  • Experience working on successful digital consumer products for 6+ years, preferably at high scale companies.

  • Demonstrated success in standing up or running new products, features, or experiences and the relentless pursuit of the details needed for execution.

  • A self-starter who identifies opportunities and brings solutions to the table and whose leadership presence truly amplifies the entire cross-functional team.

  • Comfort debating a point with peers and influencing leadership to buy into their recommendations.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to socialize info, motivate team members, and sell in your ideas with the purpose to achieve our team’s objectives.

  • Ability to cut through opacity, find the piece that matters, and understand the implications of decisions to the team and the broader organization.

  • Customer obsession and a drive to deliver constant value while balancing the needs of our business.

  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex, analytical problems and carry the solution through to the end.

  • Comfort and dexterity with data utilizing quantitative and qualitative data to inform strategies and assess results.

  • A natural tendency to double-click and get into the details, with the ability to step back and see the larger picture and objectives.

  • Extensive hands-on experience working across the digital product development process: road mapping, problem definition, exploration, requirements documentation, front and back-end development, testing, and code deployment.

  • A strong sense of ownership and accountability for your domain and an understanding of how it fits into the larger, overall product. One person, one team.

  • A positive outlook and a flexible mindset that works well in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment where you’ll need to pivot when things don’t go as planned.

  • Bonus points for a background or past experience working in financial services.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
