THE OPPORTUNITY
Digital Ethics & Compliance (DE&C) is part of E&C organization and focuses on what the organization needs by ensuring:

E&C commits to:

  • Collaborate across all E&C teams and partner with GD&T stakeholders to embed ethics and compliance as part of the way everyone works at Takeda.


DE&C Team addresses digital, data and compliance risks by:

  • Providing a RE&C framework, SOP and other tools that supports GD&T organization to incorporate Ethics and Privacy by Design in their Data and Technology programs and platforms.
  • Deploying the Global E&C Programs towards strengthening Takeda Ethical culture, Risk Management and Regulatory compliance.
  • Acting as a E&C authority, trusted partner, and collaborator to ensure all digital operations are compliant and ethical, while also leveraging the latest technologies to drive innovation and growth.
  • Works with BU/BFs and GD&T to ensure that data and digital technologies are embedding ethics and compliance in the design on the products and platforms.


DE&C by Design Head assumes a strategic and transformative leadership position tasked with integrating ethical and compliance principles into the design and development phases of digital products, services, business processes, and platforms within Takeda.
This role is instrumental in upholding Takeda's reputation, mitigating legal and regulatory risks, and fostering a culture of ethics and compliance across the organization.
As the primary liaison for the Digital Trust team, the incumbent translates various frameworks and programs into actionable strategies for Technology & Data platforms, ensuring their seamless integration into design processes and product lifecycles.
Additionally, this role oversees the tracking of platforms and compliance KPIs, monitoring their adherence to regulatory standards. Regular interactions with senior leaders in cyber, data, digital, and technology.
The position reports to Chef Digital Ethics & Compliance Officer (CDECO).
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Ethics and Compliance by Design

  • Support the development and implementation of strategies to incorporate ethical principles and compliance requirements into all aspects of Takeda's Data, Digital, and Technology initiatives.
  • Act as a business partner to the cyber and digital trust function, ensuring that digital ethics and compliance requirements are integrated into data and technology products and platforms from inception.
  • Ensure that DE&C tools and systems are tailored to meet Takeda's ethical, and compliance needs in collaboration with DD&T.
  • Oversee and manage DE&C platforms, solutions, and applications, such as One Trust, ensuring their smooth operation, integration, and optimization within Takeda.
  • Collaborate with various departments, including legal, finance, HR, and IT, to ensure alignment with ethical and compliance requirements.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as a business partner to the cyber & digital trust and DD&T teams regarding compliance and ethics matters.
  • Direct and oversee E&C activities across multiple functional areas, with direct responsibility for guiding those assigned areas.


Monitoring & Reporting

  • Responsible for investigating and remediating digital ethics and compliance incidents (e.g., DP Incidents) on tech systems and platforms.
  • Establishes a system for monitoring and reporting KPIs (e.g., DE&C incidents) of platforms for Takeda.


Training and Education

  • Provides training programs on digital ethics and compliance for relevant stakeholders.
  • Cultivates a culture of compliance awareness and ethical behaviour.


Continuous Improvement

  • Stays informed of DD&T industry trends, regulations, and standards to ensure organizational compliance and ethical practices in technology.
  • Continuously enhances Takeda's DD&T ethics and regulatory compliance practices.


Leadership

  • Serves as part of a leadership team directly influencing the area's overall business strategy.
  • Acts as a strategic leader guiding directors and senior managers across various functions.


REQUIRED EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a DD&T related field.
  • At least 8 years of progressive experience in ethics, risk, and compliance with 4 years in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience with agile ways of working and mindset to enable Tech Ethics and responsible innovation via ethics by design, compliance by design in the tech landscape/platforms.
  • Familiarity with and experience in all the elements of an ethics and compliance program (e.g., policies, risk management, learning, monitoring, case management).
  • Strong business acumen and ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and industry guidance that affect the pharmaceutical industry including, but not limited to, IFPMA, EFPIA.
  • Experience in managing potential, present, and future ethics, compliance risks (Digital Compliance) related to Technology (Tech Ethics, AI Ethics, Data Ethics), including risk identification, controls & risk mitigation of potential non-compliance.
  • Experience in using ethical decision-making methods in a business context.
  • High ethical standards and integrity.
  • Strong command of English.
