About Project Slingshot

Project Slingshot is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to ending factory farming. We do this by exposing the lies, cruelty, and power of Big Ag through disruptive campaigns that cut through the noise, capture public attention, and build unstoppable momentum for change. Our work ranges from daily social content and celebrity partnerships to documentaries, PR activations, websites, fundraising materials and OOH advertising campaigns.

The Role

As Development Manager you will build and run the fundraising engine that powers our campaigns. Bold, disruptive campaigning needs fuel - and you will make sure Slingshot has it, by running excellent fundraising operations, crafting compelling grant applications and building genuine relationships with the individuals who fund our work.

You will lead on fundraising logistics and systems - including our donations platform - so that giving is easy, data is clean and nothing falls through the cracks. You will draft grant applications that tell our story with clarity and force, and you will deliver the communications that turn one-time supporters into long-term partners in the fight to end factory farming.

You will work in close partnership with our Co-Founders, who lead major donor relationships and set our overall fundraising direction. Your job is to turn that direction into a working pipeline, a reliable system and a steady flow of income.

This role suits someone who is equally comfortable in the detail (deadlines, data, platforms) and in the story (donor communications, grant narratives, cultivation) - and who understands that every dollar raised is pressure applied to Big Ag. In time, this role will likely evolve to a director level position as our fundraising function grows, with expanded responsibilities engaging with major donors.

What You'll Do

Run fundraising operations
  • Closely partner our Co-Founders on all fundraising activity across major donors and individual giving.
  • Own the logistics of Slingshot's fundraising activity - calendars, deadlines, pipelines and processes.
  • Keep accurate records of donors, grants, deadlines and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with leadership and operations on fundraising targets, forecasts and reporting.
  • Ensure fundraising activity is compliant with relevant regulations in each market.
Draft grants, applications & reports
  • Draft compelling, well-evidenced grant applications and funding proposals.
  • Work with campaign and creative teams to translate our work into powerful funder narratives.
  • Manage grant reporting requirements, ensuring funders receive timely, high-quality updates.
  • Maintain a pipeline of grant opportunities aligned with our mission and plans.
  • Track submissions, decisions and renewal dates so no opportunity is missed.
Deliver individual giving
  • Deliver our individual donor communications calendar, from appeals to updates.
  • Create donor updates, appeals and stewardship communications that inspire continued support.
  • Identify donors with the potential to grow, and run the cultivation journeys that deepen their commitment.
  • Prepare briefings, materials and follow-ups for leadership ahead of major donor conversations.
  • Contribute to our individual giving strategy alongside the Co-Founders, and own its delivery.
Manage donation platforms, services & systems
  • Own the management and optimization of our donor platforms.
  • Liaise with donor advised funds and other funding programs.
  • Ensure giving pages, campaigns and recurring donations are set up for success.
  • Keep donor data clean, organized and usable.
  • Report on fundraising performance and surface insights and opportunities.
Build the pipeline
  • Research and identify prospective donors and funders aligned with our mission.
  • Develop cultivation plans that move supporters from first gift to lasting partnership.
  • Spot opportunities to connect campaign moments with fundraising moments.
  • Help build a culture where fundraising is understood as core to our impact.

Requirements
We'd love someone who:
  • Has solid fundraising experience across grants and individual giving.
  • Writes clearly and persuasively, from grant applications to donor emails.
  • Is able to pitch, present and articulate the mission to potential supporters.
  • Is highly organized and dependable with deadlines, data and detail.
  • Has experience with fundraising platforms and CRMs (Donorbox experience a plus).
  • Is proactive and self-directed, comfortable building processes where none exist yet.
  • Is excited to connect people to the cause - and know how to keep them connected.
  • Is passionate about Project Slingshot's mission and determined to help end factory farming.
Success looks like
  • Fundraising logistics run smoothly - deadlines met, records clean, nothing dropped.
  • A pipeline of grant applications is in motion, with high-quality submissions going out.
  • Individual donors receive regular, compelling communications - and retention is improving.
  • Our donations platform is well-managed, optimized and delivers clear performance reporting.
  • A clear cultivation approach is turning one-time supporters into long-term donors.
