Development Manager, Data Model Runtime and ML, IRIS Data Platform – Boston, MA 

Position Overview

The data models’ team is responsible for building and enhancing our SQL engine, document database, analytics engine, vector search and data specific machine learning integration into our core database architecture. Our focus is on ensuring flexible and highly scalable integration of these different data models into the IRIS platform, along with making these technologies easily accessible to customers.

To be successful in this role, we are seeking a highly technical manager who has a strong analytical design sense. They can lead a team in investigating complex problems in the database/AI space, review current research papers, pick a solution that aligns with our architecture and manage the implementation of this feature. You will be part of an exceptional team.

This position is located at the InterSystems headquarters in Boston, MA.

Responsibilities

This manager will have the responsibility of overseeing the productivity of a team of experienced developers. They will allocate half of their time to making code changes, participating in code review sessions, and engaging in design/architecture discussions. Additionally, they will maintain documentation outlining the architecture of their specific area of responsibility. It will be their duty to ensure that all product changes made by their team adhere to the expected development workflow, which includes unit tests, conducting code reviews, and providing clear documentation. Furthermore, they will be responsible for triaging issues reported by both field and internal users.

The manager will bring their own expertise and experience in the marketplace to provide input into how ML/AI can be integrated into the product.

This role necessitates close collaboration with Quality Development, as well as other development teams and shared services such as Support, Integrated Platform Engineering, Learning Services, and Documentation.

Position Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a technical team lead or technical manager
  • 5+ years of in-depth knowledge and expertise with language such as Python/Java/C++
  • Excitement and enthusiasm for algorithms, data structures and high-performance data pipelines
  • Expertise in ML/AI research
  • Expertise in database architecture
  • Demonstrated skill and experience in driving timely results
  • Able to balance competing pressures and priorities
  • College degree in a technical field like Engineering or Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics
