Are you passionate about bringing developers and technical buyers to the world's most distributed cloud platform, and proving it with numbers?

Do you want an opportunity to make podcasts, webinars, and a KubeCon presence all point toward the same goal?

Join our innovative product marketing team.

As a Developer Marketing Manager, you will work closely with developer relations, product marketing, and sales to reach developers and technical decision makers across Akamai's Cloud and Security portfolios. You will run the programs that turn developer interest into engaged accounts, pipeline, and product adoption across PLG and SLG motions.

Partner with the best

In this role, you will be the marketing counterpart to Developer Relations and the main point of contact for Security product marketing, partnering with demand generation, sales, events, and community teams. If you enjoy turning developer programs into measurable results for both self-serve and sales-led growth, this is the role for you.

As a Developer Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Running developer and technical programs end to end, including podcasts, webinars, livestreams, workshops, and onboarding sessions
  • Turning DevRel content and expertise into repeatable programs that support Cloud and Security launches and campaigns
  • Supporting SLG with field events and customer briefings for target accounts, and PLG with programs that drive sign-ups
  • Leading Akamai's developer and open source presence across KubeCon, the CNCF, The Linux Foundation, and projects like Spin
  • Managing the budget, vendors, sponsorships, and ROI of each program, and reporting outcomes back to stakeholders
  • Owning the developer program calendar with DevRel and product marketing, scaling what works and retiring what doesn't

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 8 years of relevant experience in developer, community, or program marketing and a degree in Marketing, another related field or its equivalent
  • Have experience running recurring developer, member, or customer programs such as webinars, livestreams, and newsletters at scale
  • Have supported sales-led teams through field events, sponsorships, and customer briefings, managing budgets, vendors, and ROI
  • Have partnered closely with DevRel teams to turn developer content into repeatable programs
  • Excel at written communication and making technical topics accessible to developers and buyers

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
