SCT is a management consulting firm supporting mission-critical operations across the U.S. Government. We are pursuing a contract to support the U.S. Coast Guard Directives and Publications Division, which manages lifecycle publishing for Commandant Instructions (CIs), ALCOAST messages, forms, and related policy products under the Directives System Program. This position supports audit-ready publishing production, internal control compliance, and Sponsor coordination. This position is contingent upon contract award. This is a U.S.-based, full time, remote role requiring a Common Access Card (CAC) and use of government-furnished equipment in an unclassified environment.
Position Summary
The Desktop Publisher Specialist provides technical editing, formatting, and accessibility compliance support for Coast Guard publications. This role ensures documents meet template, correspondence, and Section 508 standards prior to release. The Specialist supports ALCOAST processing, S+ Superspeed publications, and forms integration while maintaining database accuracy and documentation discipline.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform copy editing, line editing, and proofreading.
- Apply Coast Guard-approved templates and formatting standards.
- Conduct Section 508 tagging and basic remediation.
- Process ALCOAST messages during assigned coverage windows.
- Support S+ Superspeed publication workflows.
- Maintain publication metadata in Power Apps library.
- Integrate and review Coast Guard forms for compliance alignment.
- Coordinate directly with Sponsors to refine drafts.
- Validate plain language and grammatical accuracy.
- Document editing actions for monthly reporting.
Required Qualifications
Required
- 2–5 years editing and publication support experience OR Bachelor’s degree.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Adobe Pro, SharePoint.
- Beginning to intermediate Power Apps proficiency.
- Strong mastery of English grammar and style.
- Ability to obtain/maintain CAC.
- Experience applying Section 508 compliance standards.
Preferred
- Experience supporting military or federal publications.
- Experience managing document libraries or databases.
Location: Remote
Travel: Not required outside of retrieving CAC
