Are you passionate about pioneering the next wave of human-robot interaction? Do you thrive in dynamic environments and enjoy the hands-on deployment of cutting-edge technology? If you're driven by innovation and eager to play a pivotal role in bringing collaborative robots (cobots) to diverse settings, we invite you to join us at Cobot as a Deployment Engineer. This role is a golden opportunity for those with a strong technical background alongside a customer-centric approach, ready to tackle challenges head-on and create a scalable deployment playbook. As a linchpin between engineering, go-to-market, and client operations teams, you'll turn customers into passionate cobot advocates and grow with us as we expand our reach.

Collaborative Robotics is a team of innovators and builders redefining the future of human-robot interaction. We are working to realize a world where robots are a trusted extension of your surroundings. They work, adapt, and react around you. Not the other way around.

We're hiring virtually within the U.S. (preferred locations: Seattle, WA; Rochester, MN; or Detroit, MI). Candidates must be based within close proximity to a major airport. Willing and able to travel 90-100% of the time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional deployment support, setting new benchmarks for customer satisfaction.

  • Lead the onsite hardware and software testing of cobots, ensuring optimal performance.

  • Identify, document, and troubleshoot issues, enhancing system reliability and user experience.

  • Conduct parts replacements and robot retrofits, maintaining high operational standards.

  • Build and maintain customer relationships based on trust, reliability, and mutual success.

  • Prepare and verify site readiness for cobot deployment through detailed checklists and testing.

  • Document operational and technical troubleshooting specs, building a foundation for excellence.

  • Partner with Program Manager to ensure consistent customer communication and project progress.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) or Supply Chain Management.

  • A customer-first mindset with proven success in building positive relationships.

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals.

  • Proficiency in Linux, Python, and Git or equivalent version control tools.

  • Hands-on experience in electrical and mechanical debugging.

  • A data-oriented approach, with skills in data visualization or presentation.

  • Willingness to travel (90-100%) for on-site deployments.

  • Highly motivated, excellent communicator, thriving in fast-paced and collaborative startup environments.

  • Previous experience deploying and integrating systems into logistics, healthcare, or manufacturing industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ROS or similar robotic operating systems.

  • Comprehensive understanding of both hardware and software in complex robotic systems.

  • Basic networking skills, including familiarity with WiFi and VPN.

  • Ability to automate repetitive tasks, improving efficiency and reliability.

  • Skilled in creating detailed operational workflows, training materials, and documentation.

  • Prior experience in managing pilot programs or deploying robotic systems.

  • Background in customer success or support, with a strong track record of direct customer engagement.

  • Innovative problem-solving skills, with a history of streamlining deployment processes.

The annual base salary range for this position is $110,000 - $145,000 plus equity and comprehensive benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and experience level. The range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the noted geographic area. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
