Position Summary:

We’re looking for a firsthand Deltek expert who pairs deep technical skills (especially SQL Server) with strong business acumen. In this role, you’ll own the stability, configuration, and evolution of Deltek Vantagepoint (and related systems), partnering closely with Finance & Accounting to streamline processes, improve data integrity, and enable better reporting and decision-making. As the organization grows through acquisition, you’ll also serve as the primary system leader for M&A related integrations and system migrations, guiding data and systems strategy from due diligence through full integration into the Deltek environment. You’ll troubleshoot complex issues, manage cross-system data, and drive enhancements that make the business run smarter and faster.

You’ll excel here if you: understand how Deltek really operates, can model and query data in SQL Server cold, and enjoy solving end-to-end problems across systems, not just inside Deltek.

Key Responsibilities:

Deltek ERP Ownership & Administration

  • Serve as the primary owner of Deltek Vantagepoint, including configuration, administration, security, and day to day support.
  • Manage release cycles, including impact assessments, testing, configuration, upgrades, patches, new features, and deployments.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve functional and system issues across the Deltek ERP ecosystem, escalating to vendors when appropriate and ensuring root cause resolution.

Data Management, Reporting & Integrations

  • Serve as the SQL Server subject matter expert, designing and maintaining database objects, reports, integrations, and data quality processes.
  • Develop and optimize T SQL queries, views, and stored procedures to support reporting, system integrations, and business intelligence needs.
  • Manage and monitor data across Deltek and connected systems including HRIS, CRM, payroll, data warehouse, and BI platforms.
  • Maintain end to end data integrity, reconciliation processes, and cross system data governance.
  • Lead data migration initiatives, ensuring proper mapping, validation, testing, and auditability.
  • Manage integration of third party applications via a push or pull through API calls.

M&A Integration & System Migration Leadership

  • Serve as the primary system leader for M&A related integrations, owning the technical strategy across affected ERP, financial, and business systems.
  • Lead due diligence and system assessments for newly acquired entities, evaluating legacy platforms and defining integration or migration roadmaps into Deltek Vantagepoint.
  • Own end-to-end system migration and consolidation projects, including data mapping, cleansing, validation, cutover planning, and post go-live support.
  • Partner with executive leadership, Finance, IT, and third-party consultants to ensure business continuity and minimal disruption throughout M&A related system transitions.

Finance Partnership & Business Process Optimization

  • Partner closely with Finance and Accounting to maximize the value of Deltek and related systems across project accounting, billing, time and expense, revenue recognition, WIP, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and reporting functions.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, automate processes, improve data quality, and enhance system capabilities.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions that improve operational efficiency and decision making.
  • Stay informed on accounting and business process changes and implement supporting system enhancements as needed.

Stakeholder Management & User Support

  • Serve as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, gathering requirements, prioritizing enhancements, and communicating project timelines.
  • Develop and maintain documentation including process maps, SOPs, runbooks, workflows, and data dictionaries.
  • Deliver training and ongoing support to ensure effective user adoption and utilization of enterprise systems.

Governance, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure system usage aligns with internal controls, governance standards, financial reporting requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines.
  • Promote best practices related to data quality, security, privacy, and system administration.
  • Support vendor relationships, software licensing, technology planning, and budget management activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance business processes, reporting capabilities, and overall system performance.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: 5+ years working in Deltek Vantagepoint in a functional/technical role with firsthand system ownership.
  • SQL Server expert: advanced T‑SQL, query optimization, indexing, performance tuning, SSMS; familiarity with SSIS or other ETL tools a plus.
  • Strong understanding of data models and integration patterns (APIs, flat-file exchanges, scheduled jobs).
  • Experience supporting integrations with tools like HRIS/Payroll, CRM, and BI platforms.
  • Business Acumen: Solid grasp of finance/accounting flows (projects, billing, revenue recognition, close), able to partner with Finance without needing to be a CPA.
  • Troubleshooting: Advanced diagnostic skills, able to isolate issues across applications, data, and integration layers and deliver durable fixes.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent stakeholder management; skilled at translating business requirements into technical deliverables.
  • M&A & Migration Experience: Prior experience serving as a system lead through mergers and acquisitions, including legacy system evaluation, data migration, and ERP integration, strongly preferred.
Qualifications Education Preferred Bachelors or better. Bachelors or better. Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities
