Senior Merchandising Data Analyst
Our Opportunity:
Chewy is looking for a passionate, data-driven Senior Business Analyst to join our Merchandising Analytics Team based in Dania Beach, FL. In this role, the Senior Business Analyst will directly support our Category Management Analytics function and will be responsible for building and maintaining core reporting tools to drive continuous improvements in business decision making processes and analyzing Merchandising data sets to address complex problems.
The ideal candidate demonstrates exemplary skills in retrieving and analyzing data sets with millions of records and is highly proficient in SQL, Excel and data visualization tools such as Tableau. The ideal candidate has proven experience creating metrics and dashboards using a range of data sets including financial, supply chain, customer experience, and ecommerce metrics. In addition to a strong analytical background, this individual possesses exemplary data visualization skills and has a knack for simplifying complex concepts into clear data outputs. A successful candidate will be flexible, curious, and detail-oriented, who will seek to understand the story the data is telling and translate it into actionable business insights.
What You'll Do:
- Partner with analytics and business stakeholders to analyze assortment performance, promotions effectiveness, and financial performance of Merchandising segments such as categories, brands, and SKUs
- Develop, enhance, and maintain standardized business reporting such as weekly business reviews
- Gather requirements to lead development and creation of insightful and intuitive Tableau dashboards using multiple data sources, parameters, and measures
- Independently evaluate analytics processes and reporting tools with a goal of continuously improving data availability and scalability
- Partner with analytics, data engineering, and BI teams to develop and QA new data tables and data sources across multiple platforms
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's degree in Math, Finance, Statistics, Economics, Information Management or a related degree with analytical or quantitative emphasis
- Minimum of 2 years of directly transferrable work experience
- Data visualization skills using Tableau or equivalent data visualization tool
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in SQL and Excel
- Understanding of Financial KPIs and P&L statement
- Proficient understanding of statistics and development of KPIs to measure business performance
- Familiarity with Ecommerce pricing, assortment, fulfillment, and inventory management strategies
- High degree of proficiency executing complex and large-scale data analyses across millions of records
- Strong understanding of data warehousing and relational or columnar database structure
- Proven experience delivering high quality results on tight timelines
- Superior attention to detail and experience creating mechanisms to monitor data integrity
- Ability to operate in ambiguous environments with speed and commitment to quality
Bonus:
- Experience using Google Analytics or equivalent platform to measure site and funnel performance
- Business Intelligence experience building tools in an Ecommerce or retail setting
- Advanced technical skills using Python, R, Knime or other advanced analytics applications
- Masters or equivalent advanced academic degree
