We are looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer with experience in data modeling to join the Data Engineering team at CarGurus as we revamp our data modeling framework in dbt. As a Senior Analytics Engineer at CarGurus, you will be responsible for transforming raw data in the data warehouse into clean, reliable, organized data models that allow our organization to make informed data-driven decisions. Our tech stack currently consists of Snowflake, dbt, and Looker, along with an in-house built ETL pipeline using Airflow.
What You'll Do:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, modularized data models using dbt for our core data marts
- Partner with analysts and non-technical stakeholders across the company to gather business requirements for modeling projects
- Create explores in Looker to surface data models for self-service
- Help create best practices and standards for data modeling, documentation, and testing
- Coach junior team members on their modeling projects and assist with code reviews
- Help with platform ownership tasks such as permissioning, metadata management, and maintenance for the data warehouse and Looker platform
Who You Are:
- 4+ years of experience as an Analytics Engineer, Data Engineer, Product Analyst, or similar role
- 1+ year of experience with building complex data models in dbt
- Expert-level proficiency with SQL, including writing performant queries on large data sets
- Experience working with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, and/or Redshift)
- Experience with Looker or a similar BI platform (Tableau, Mode)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Interest in coaching and mentoring junior engineers on the Analytics Engineering team
- Bonus: Proficient with Python
