This Marketing Analytics Analyst role will support our Consumer Marketing team, where you will have opportunities for outsized positive impact. This team owns marketing to consumers (car shoppers!) across all of CarGurus consumer products – core listings, finance in advance, sell my car – aimed at continuing strengthening our position as a top online car shopping website. We’re looking for a highly-analytical and self-motivated individual to join our team at CarGurus.
As a Marketing Analytics Analyst, your data insights will play a big part in supporting all of our Consumer Marketing teams. You will be responsible for owning new campaign tracking setup and ongoing measurement to optimize performance across our products as well as supporting strategic cross-channel analyses to improve our overall return on ad spend. In this new role, you will work cross functionally with Marketing, Product and Data Science to provide novel insights in support of our strategic decision-making. This role is a combination of analytics, strategy, and marketing. A successful candidate will love data, testing hypothesis, challenging assumptions, and understanding how different functional pieces work together to ultimately provide data-driven recommendations to accelerate growth.
What You’ll Do:
- Own new campaign set-up and on-going measurement for brand and product marketing campaigns to optimize performance
- Measure performance of existing campaigns and conduct data-driven analysis to understand impact on traffic value vs. volume and benefits across verticals to determine cross-sell impact and return on ad spend
- Develop quantitative analysis and ad hoc reports to support marketing decisions related to: marketing spend efficiency, user lifetime value, user engagement & retention, and return on investment
- Develop frameworks for forecasting, exploring trends, and spotting anomalies
- Conduct deep dives & analytical investigations into inconsistent trends in data
- Synthesize findings into actionable insights and recommendations
- Communicate results, key insights and recommendations to key partners and senior leadership
Who You Are:
- 2+ years of experience in data analysis (experience in marketing/product analytics a plus)
- Fluency in SQL
- Experience with Looker and Python a plus, but not required
- Bachelor’s degree in an analytical or social science major (e.g. math, statistics, economics) preferred
- Data-oriented thinker with excellent strategic, problem-solving, and critical thinking capabilities
- Strong analytical skillset—able to translate quantitative and qualitative inputs into actionable strategic direction
- Self-motivated, well-organized and detail-oriented
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
