The Managing Director will lead CFGI's Finance Effectiveness AI practice, guiding finance executives on AI strategy, developing tools, and ensuring successful engagements.
We are seeking a visionary and market-focused Managing Director to own and accelerate our Data and AI practice within the Finance Effectiveness team. This leader will define and drive the AI agenda for CFGI’s Finance Effectiveness practice — leading AI Strategy Assessments for finance organizations, building a portfolio of proprietary finance-specific tools and accelerators, and bringing those capabilities to market with speed and credibility. This is a rare opportunity to shape what AI-enabled finance looks like in practice for Fortune 1000 clients, building something tangible, structured, and immediately deployable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and lead the Finance Effectiveness AI offering by guiding CFOs and finance executives through structured working sessions that align leadership on AI vision, identify and prioritize high-impact finance use cases, assess data and technology readiness, define target AI operating models for the finance function, and produce a phased, fundable AI roadmap.
- Define and execute the go-to-market strategy for Data and AI within the Finance Effectiveness practice: identifying the highest-value opportunities across FP&A, R2R, O2C, P2P, and controllership, and translating them into deployable tools, frameworks, and accelerators clients can put into production quickly.
- Engage directly with CFOs, Controllers, and finance executives to understand their AI readiness, surface quick wins vs. longer-term transformation opportunities, and shape investment cases tied to measurable business value within the finance function.
- Lead delivery of AI-enabled finance engagements end-to-end, from initial AI Strategy Assessment through solution design and deployment, ensuring finance organizations move from ideas to execution with structure and confidence.
- Build the internal backbone required to scale the Finance Effectiveness AI practice: delivery methodology, reusable assets, talent, and cross-practice partnerships, ensuring consistent, credible execution across the client portfolio.
- Collaborate across CFGI service lines (e.g., ERP, accounting advisory, transaction services) to embed Finance Effectiveness AI capabilities into broader transformation programs.
- Drive market momentum for the Finance Effectiveness AI practice through thought leadership, speaking engagements, proposal development, and client relationship expansion, establishing CFGI as the trusted AI partner for CFOs.
What We're Looking For:
- Twelve plus years of experience in finance transformation, data and analytics, or AI/automation consulting.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required; prior Big4 or professional services/consulting experience is required, along with a demonstrated go-to-market track record.
- Proven ability to lead AI strategy engagements with C-suite finance stakeholders: aligning leadership on AI vision, prioritizing use cases by business value, assessing readiness across data, technology, operating model, and risk, and producing actionable finance transformation roadmaps.
- Deep knowledge of finance operations and where AI drives the most impact, including close automation, cash reconciliation, variance analysis, forecasting, invoice processing, and reporting.
- Demonstrated experience translating AI concepts into practical, deployable finance tools, with direct involvement in building or commercializing accelerators, automation solutions, or AI-enabled workflows for finance functions.
- Familiarity with modern AI tooling and platforms (e.g., LLMs, agentic frameworks, Python pipelines, cloud data platforms) and the ability to guide technical teams toward pragmatic, scalable solutions.
- Strong executive presence and client development skills, comfortable leading Finance Effectiveness AI Strategy Assessments, shaping go-to-market offerings, and expanding client relationships in the same role.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias toward action, a passion for building, and the credibility to represent CFGI’s Finance Effectiveness AI capabilities externally at the CFO level and above.
