STR is hiring a Cyber Emulation Engineer Co-Op who will work as part of project teams with mentorship from experienced staff starting July 1st, 2026. Co-Ops will also collaborate with technical experts to solve problems related to emulation, reverse engineering, binary analysis, software development, vulnerability research and cyber defense. Additional duties will include providing support on all phases of projects, problem design, solution discovery, development of prototype algorithms and systems in software and/or hardware experimentation and data analysis and system implementation/integration for test and fielded systems.

Basic Requirements:

  • Strong academic record and interest in system emulation, virtualization or other security-related topics
  • Hands on experience with or coursework in systems programming and the ability to read and write assembly
  • Proficiency in Python for software development
  • Background/experience in one of the following areas: emulation, reverse engineering, binary analysis, software development, vulnerability research and cyber defense.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with debugging and dynamic analysis of software/firmware
  • Knowledge of additional programming languages: C, C++, non-x86 assembly
  • Hands-on experience with or coursework in QEMU, virtualization, or reverse engineering tools

Education:

  • Enrollment in a BS, MS or PhD degree program in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $52,000 - $79,000

The salary range listed is based on external market data. Offers are based on factors, such as but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, training, key skills/critical skills, security clearances, and prevailing market and business conditions.
