Position Summary
As the Associate Creative Director for Yahoo Search, you'll help define the creative vision and messaging for one of Yahoo's most important products as it enters its next era with Scout, Yahoo's AI-powered answer engine. Reporting to the Head of Marketing Studio, you'll partner closely with the Yahoo Search team at every phase—from strategic planning and briefing to execution of fully integrated campaigns.

You're a player-coach: inspiring your team while rolling up your sleeves when needed. You know great creative when you see it, and you understand how to turn ideas into work that feels fresh, impactful, and on-brand. You're a conceptual thinker and exceptional writer who can simplify complex technology into compelling, human stories. Your experience spans integrated campaigns—including product launches, video, social, lifecycle, and upper-funnel marketing—and you're skilled at guiding work from strategy through execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creative Leadership: Guide the team to develop innovative campaigns that reflect Yahoo Search’s identity and connect with users. Elevate work from good to exceptional through your taste, judgment, and feedback, while balancing vision with precision—ensuring every touchpoint, from copy to design to execution, meets the highest standards.

  • Campaign Development: Lead the conception and execution of multi-channel campaigns, including digital display, social, email marketing, and video storytelling.

  • Creative Brief Development: Craft and refine briefs that set clear objectives, inspire bold ideas, and provide actionable direction.

  • Brand Alignment: Oversee all creative outputs to ensure they meet Yahoo Search’s brand standards, visual storytelling excellence, and audience engagement goals.

  • Agency & Partner Management: Build strong partnerships with agency teams, ensuring work exceeds expectations and aligns with strategic goals.

  • Trend Monitoring & Innovation: Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging technologies, and creative innovations to keep campaigns fresh, relevant, and competitive. Formulate ethical guidelines for how the creative team leverages AI platforms to maintain brand integrity and avoid market redundancy.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of creative leadership experience, ideally within consumer technology, AI, search, digital media, or advertising.

  • Portfolio demonstrating exceptional conceptual thinking, campaign development, and world-class writing across integrated marketing channels.

  • Exceptional writing, storytelling, and editorial skills, with the ability to translate complex products and emerging technologies into clear, compelling narratives.

  • Deep understanding of full-funnel marketing strategies and experience developing messaging that drives awareness, consideration, and adoption.

  • Experience leading cross-functional creative teams and managing external agency partners.

  • Skilled at translating business strategy, product innovation, and customer insights into bold, differentiated creative work.

  • Strong understanding of brand voice, messaging frameworks, and content strategy across product launches, lifecycle marketing, social, video, and integrated campaigns.

  • Excellent project management, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate creative rationale and influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage audience insights, performance data, and testing to inform creative decisions.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • An AI-forward, continuous-learning mindset with a demonstrated openness to experimentation, adapting to rapidly evolving creative technologies, and utilizing AI as a force multiplier for creative expression.

  • Skilled at building deep partnerships across Product, Product Marketing, Brand, Communications, and Marketing to shape strategy and drive execution.

  • Bachelor's degree in Advertising, Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related field

The compensation for this position ranges from $110,625.00 - $230,625.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
