Role Description

As a Design Lead on the Brand team at GFiber, you will apply your experience to create compelling visual and experiential moments that authentically represent GFiber’s brand, products, and services across all major media, content, channels, and experiences.

In this role, you will take on a leadership position, designing as well as managing and mentoring design resources to ensure the creation of high-quality, on-brand visual assets. You will guide the team through the entire design process, from concept to execution, fostering collaboration, creativity, and innovation. Both your leadership and execution will ensure the design team operates with efficiency, alignment, and a deep understanding of GFiber’s products and services.

You will also be responsible for empowering external vendor partners, providing them with the direction and support needed to meet design standards and deliver consistent, exceptional work. Your ability to mentor, inspire, and manage a diverse team will be crucial in maintaining design excellence and ensuring all deliverables meet the highest standards of quality and consistency.

Your role will require constant collaboration with cross-functional teams, including executive stakeholders, to ensure designs align with long-term brand goals. As a full-time member of the GFiber Brand team, you will help steer the company’s creative direction, contribute to major organizational initiatives, and drive brand loyalty through exceptional design work.

In this role, you'll:

  • Apply your extensive experience to craft and refine visual assets that authentically capture and communicate GFiber’s brand identity, making sure every piece of content – from digital assets to physical collateral – resonates with our audience and reinforces our mission.
  • Direct and inspire temp, contract, and vendor designers, guiding them through each phase of the creative process. Provide ongoing support, direction, and expertise to ensure high design standards, brand integrity, and consistent delivery of top-tier visual assets. This leadership role is critical in fostering team cohesion, maintaining a unified vision, and driving creative excellence across all projects.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and translate them into visually compelling solutions that drive business results and elevate the GFiber brand. Represent the Brand Team on organizational committees, such as the Leadership Summit Planning Committee, playing an active role in shaping key company initiatives.
  • Provide art direction and counsel not only to internal team members but also to external vendors, ensuring every project is aligned with GFiber’s brand standards and objectives. Your ongoing oversight and involvement are essential in maintaining consistency across diverse marketing materials and external collaborations.
  • Collaborate directly with executive stakeholders, cultivating trust and confidence through the consistent delivery of exceptional design work. Your role will help reinforce the strategic alignment between creative output and business objectives, driving brand loyalty and long-term success.

At a minimum we'd like you to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 3 years of experience with a portfolio showcasing your creative vision and technical skills.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software and tools.

It's preferred if you have:

  • Experience with design for fiber internet, consumer technology, experience-focused and/or lifestyle brands in the digital space
  • Background in motion design, 3D, or storytelling for brand-heavy experiences.
  • Exposure to A/B testing, UX research, and data-driven design iteration.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment, adapting quickly to new challenges and opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and provide constructive feedback to team members and stakeholders

Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
