Primary Purpose

Bright Horizons is seeking a dynamic and strategic Corporate Communications Director to lead executive communications and shape the company’s voice across all key audiences. This role is responsible for crafting compelling messaging that reflects our culture, values, and business priorities—ensuring alignment across families, clients, employees, investors, and the broader public.

The ideal candidate is a masterful storyteller and strategic thinker who can translate complex business concepts into clear, engaging narratives. This leader will work closely with senior executives to develop speeches, presentations, and thought leadership content, while also managing sensitive and high-profile communications that reinforce Bright Horizons’ position in the community as a trusted leader in early education and family solutions.

This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week onsite at our headquarters in Newton, MA.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Executive Communications:
    • Develop and write speeches, presentations, position papers and internal messages for the CEO and senior leadership team.
    • Prepare executives for public speaking engagements and internal events.
  • Strategic Messaging:
    • Lead the development of consistent messaging that reflects the company’s mission, values, and business strategy.
    • Ensure alignment across all communication channels and audiences.
  • Audience Engagement:
    • Tailor communications for diverse stakeholders including families, learners, clients, employees.
    • Partner with PR, Client Relations, Marketing, Internal Communications and Investor Relations to ensure cohesive storytelling.
  • Issues & Reputation Management:
    • Collaborate with PR to manage sensitive topics and monitor public sentiment and industry trends to proactively shape messaging.
    • Assess need and develop community affairs strategy in key markets.
  • Culture & Brand Voice:
    • Champion the Bright Horizons culture through internal and external communications.
    • Ensure all messaging reflects the company’s commitment to its culture and mission.
  • Leadership:
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with senior leaders and across departments to support enterprise-wide initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field
  • 10 years Experience in corporate communications, public relations, or executive communications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in community affairs, public affairs, issues management a plus - Preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
  • Proven experience writing for C-suite executives and managing high-stakes communications
  • Proven track record of influencing internal and external audiences with positive impact
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Deep understanding of corporate culture, brand voice, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Presentation design skills a plus
