POSITION SUMMARY
The Core Financial Analyst is an opportunity to move beyond recurring journal entries and reconciliations into work that reaches the most senior levels of the Firm. This unique project-based role combines accounting policy initiatives with the development of industry expertise in insurance and risk management, real estate and lease accounting, pension and 401(k) accounting and audits, and ad-hoc financial analysis. Rather than owning a single narrow process, you will develop a broad understanding of how a global firm's finances operate — including the general ledger and accounts payable functions — and present your work directly to the CFO and the Firm's Audit Committee.
The role reports into the Controllers function, to the Vice President leading the Projects Team. You will work with colleagues within the department along with other business lines throughout the firm. We are looking for a candidate with a strong technical accounting foundation, sound analytical judgment, and the ambition to increase their expertise and responsibilities over time.
WHY THIS ROLE STANDS OUT
- Early ownership: Manage external audits, prepare financial statements, and help shape accounting policy
- Exceptional breadth: Four distinct disciplines: benefit plans, real estate, insurance, and special projects, within a single role
- Senior-level visibility: Present directly to the CFO and the Firm's Audit Committee
- A platform for growth: Designed for high performers ready to build on their public accounting foundation

- Monitor (monthly) plan investment statements
- Manage the day-to-day relationship with the Firm's external auditors

- Maintain policies and procedures related to benefit plans
Occupancy / Real Estate Accounting
- Support Occupancy Controllers in financial analysis and reporting
- Support Accounting Policy Manager on lease accounting models and updates
Insurance
- Assist in managing the Firm’s Corporate Insurance Portfolio
- Prepare insurance submission materials, manage invoice submission for payments, respond to client insurance inquiries
- Participate in meetings with Insurance Brokers and Underwriters
- Assist in managing Insurance Strategy meeting and annual update with CFO
Projects
- Lead ad-hoc financial analysis projects and prepare the accompanying presentation materials
- Assist Occupancy Controller on monthly financial statement preparation
- Assist in preparation of the semi-annual Accounting Firm Fee Presentation for Audit Committee
- Assessing accounting best practices for new and existing activities and transaction flows
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience and credentials
- CPA license strongly preferred, or currently sitting for the examinations with the hours required for licensure in your state
- 3 - 5 years of experience in public accounting (Big 4 preferred), a financial institution, or an investment bank
Skills and attributes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial results clearly to non-financial audiences
- Advanced Excel skills and a high level of comfort working with data
- Polished presentation skills (PowerPoint, charts, executive-ready materials)
- Exceptional attention to detail and the organizational skills to manage multiple workstreams concurrently
