Job Summary
Summary:Under the general direction of the leader on duty, and according to established policies and procedures operates the computerized building automation and alarm system operations center and interprets and responds to information provided by the system. Takes corrective action as needed and responds to emergency situations and has the ability to work independently.
May be required to work weekends or rotating shifts.

Essential Functions:
-Operates computerized Building Operations Center, which includes the Honeywell Siemens Controls and ENE Building Systems computers, Translogic system and Thyssen Elevator computer system.
-Interprets and responds to information provided by the system(s) determining normal and corrective action.
-Receives phone calls from all areas of the hospital and takes appropriate action.
-Dispatch calls to personnel as warranted.
-Assigns other Engineering Department personnel as required for corrective actions.
-Maintains and issues computerized corrective work orders.
-Maintains handwritten and computerized log(s) of all transmissions, assignments and/or communications in accordance with department standards.
-Performs equipment inspections on the M-1 level to ensure they meet standards.
-Communicates with other employees and management on necessary information regarding building systems operation.
-Maintains a cooperative relationship with utility suppliers and outside vendors to the hospital (i.e.
-MASCO, MATEP, Boston Edison, Boston Fire Department, Honeywell, American Service, Thyssen Elevator, etc.) to respond to malfunctions of equipment.
-May contact vendors as necessary.
-Performs duties of a maintenance mechanic on a periodic basis to maintain a familiarity with changing systems and building layouts.
-Responds to emergency situations as appropriate.
-Attends and actively participates in department, team, and one on one meetings with supervisor.
-Provides updates in shift huddles with team members to ensure continuity of services across shifts.
-Maintains a safe and clean work environment in areas where work is performed and in Engineering department.
-Closes work order in Maximo to maintain an accurate record of services provided.
-Completes work in accordance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
-Supports team members to problem solve and complete work orders to meet customer needs.
-Upholds BWH values and customer service standards in all interactions within and outside of the Engineering Department.

Licenses and Credentials
Experience
3 or more years of experience in extensive technical training in mechanical and electrical equipment repair. required Experience in the operation of PC level computer systems required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to read, write and perform arithmetic calculations at a level generally acquired through a high school education or equivalent.
- Knowledge of basic HVAC design.
- Must be able to interpret standard mechanical diagrams, charts, and blueprints.
- Requires analytical ability to respond quickly and to accurately assess equipment malfunctions and take appropriate corrective action.
