About the Job:
The Real Deal is looking for a Content Producer to join a rapidly growing media company focused on real estate journalism and headquartered in New York City.
This position will add to The Real Deal’s coverage of the real estate industry by bringing a first lens to content from a variety of sources. The ideal candidate will be a strong writer with a clear sense of style and journalistic norms. Candidates should have a background in journalism and news media.
Background knowledge of business, real estate, and economic principles are helpful, but not necessary. Willingness to learn and comfortability taking feedback is necessary.
Job Responsibilities:
Write 7 “blurbs”, or aggregated content pieces, per day
Refocus stories reported by other outlets for TRD’s audience, highlighting the issues most important to the industry and helping to make TRD the go-to news source for real estate professionals in the local market.
File stories that are clean, comprehensible, and interesting
Work closely with an editor to continue honing framing, writing, and journalistic skills, finding the “TRD voice”, and developing a strong news sense
Job Requirements:
Strong writing skills
Background in journalism
Experience in beat reporting is helpful
Ability to work well with an editor and learn from feedback
Pre-existing knowledge of real estate and business is a plus, but not mandatory
