Position Summary

At TMHCC, the Configuration Analyst (Contract) partners closely with Product, Engineering, QA, and business stakeholders to design, configure, and optimize enterprise insurance platforms. This role goes beyond executing configuration requests the ideal candidate evaluates business problems critically, challenges assumptions, identifies risks and tradeoffs, and helps drive scalable, maintainable solutions.

The Configuration Analyst acts as a strategic partner in solution delivery by translating business needs into practical system designs while balancing speed, maintainability, compliance, and long-term platform sustainability.

The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, highly collaborative, technically adaptable, and comfortable asking difficult questions to ensure the organization is solving the right problems not simply implementing requests as submitted.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and maintain insurance products and business processes across TMHCC enterprise applications.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, QA, and business stakeholders to analyze requirements, challenge assumptions, and translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
  • Evaluate requests and proposed solutions by identifying tradeoffs, dependencies, operational impacts, technical constraints, and long-term maintainability considerations.
  • Author, troubleshoot, and optimize business rules within enterprise rules engines and configurable application platforms.
  • Analyze complex production issues and troubleshoot application behavior, data integrity concerns, and Level II escalations.
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools and automation techniques to accelerate analysis, documentation, testing, troubleshooting, and delivery workflows while maintaining high-quality outcomes.
  • Assess and communicate risks, assumptions, and implementation impacts to stakeholders, enabling informed prioritization and decision-making.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to simplify processes, reduce manual effort, improve release quality, and increase operational efficiency.

Competencies

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex system, configuration, and process issues.
  • Ability to evaluate business needs, challenge assumptions, identify tradeoffs, and balance speed, risk, maintainability, and business value.
  • Strong understanding of how applications, integrations, data, and business processes interact across enterprise platforms.
  • Ability to effectively leverage AI tools to accelerate analysis, documentation, testing, troubleshooting, and solution design while maintaining sound technical judgment.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts, risks, constraints, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with SQL, JSON, APIs/web services, and configurable business applications; experience with enterprise rules engines is preferred.
  • Ability to assess competing priorities, recommend sequencing based on business value and risk, and drive work to completion.
  • Demonstrated commitment to improving processes, reducing manual effort, increasing efficiency, and delivering scalable, sustainable solutions.
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems, technologies, and business domains and become a trusted subject matter expert.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing business priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Position Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements

Experience with enterprise Rules Engines like InRule, Drools, Red Hat Decision Maker (fka JBoss) strongly preferred

Experience 

3+ years' experience in application configuration, business systems analysis, software support, or a related technical role. Experience working with configurable enterprise applications, business rules engines, or insurance systems is preferred. Insurance experience preferred.
