The Compliance Specialist will manage compliance projects, monitor regulations, develop training, and assist with risk assessment, while fostering a culture of compliance.
AHEAD is currently seeking a Compliance Specialist to join the Legal team and to help build out the compliance function, including providing counseling to AHEAD’s business teams and stakeholders. You will report to AHEAD’s Corporate Counsel, Compliance. This is a remote role.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with internal stakeholders as well as customers, vendors, and regulators, as necessary;
- Play a key role in fostering a strong culture of compliance;
- Manage compliance-related projects for current and evolving laws and obligations;
- Proactively monitor developments and changes to applicable guidance;
- Assist in designing, implementing, and managing effective compliance programs;
- Develop audit plans, conduct internal audits, and drive closure of corrective actions;
- Assist with the preparation of compliance reports for senior management and regulatory agencies;
- Develop and manage effective compliance training programs for employees; and
- Assess and minimize sources of risk, with appropriate escalations as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent;
- Knowledge of U.S. and international ESG, sustainability, and/or export laws and regulations;
- Experience with corporate ESG programs and key metrics (e.g., tracking Scope 1-3 emissions) or external reporting (e.g., EcoVadis, CDP, CA SB 261, and CA SB 253)
- Experience interacting with or working for regulatory agencies;
- Expertise in drafting and reviewing a broad range of policies and procedures;
- Great research skills (including legal research, preferred) and the ability to sort through complex documentation;
- Expertise in Microsoft tools, including PowerPoint and Excel;
- Project or program management experience;
- Strong analytical skills and verbal and written communication skills; and
- Excellent business judgment, attention to detail, and self-motivation.
