The Community Engagement Associate will support youth prevention efforts by building partnerships, delivering training, and facilitating community engagement activities.

Key duties and responsibilities fall under categories outlined below. This position will also carry out other duties as required by the evolving nature of responding to youth prevention needs in the city of Boston.
All positions at BPHC shall work to help BPHC become an antiracist organization by meeting or exceeding the standards set by the BPHC Anti-Racism Policy.
Technical Assistance- Co-deliver training on substance use, harm reduction, and restorative prevention to youth and youth-partnering organizations around the community
- With the Youth Prevention team, review existing training content, and adapt or enhance to ensure topics and content is up-to-date and relevant
- Provide assistance to community partners implementing a coping skills campaign
- Help build capacity of youth serving organizations and youth-serving providers through substance use trainings & resources
- Build relationships and rapport with community-based youth-serving organizations & schools.
- Represent the Youth Prevention Program at tabling events, resource fairs, and other outreach opportunities.
- Serve as an additional point of contact for the Youth Prevention Advisory Board (YPAB), an advisory board of adults and organizations informing youth prevention activities.
- Help build capacity of partnering community organizations through trainings and Youth Advisory Board (YAB).
- Support the implementation/facilitation of YAB and coping skills activities with partner sites.
- Expand partnerships for annual coping skills campaign.
- Participate in RSB Team bi-weekly meetings and Youth Prevention Advisory Board monthly meetings and other meetings as assigned
- Participate in calls and meetings with federal funders and technical assistance providers.
- Support coordination of relevant fiscal activities, such as timely payments of gift cards/stipends, etc.
- Track participation in YAB, coping skills campaigns, and other related activities
- Gather data for report writing and other deliverables
- Additional duties that arise to fulfill grant and reporting requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in community work, public health, social work, communications, substance use continuum of care, or related field, OR Bachelor's degree +1 years' experience in relevant field OR Master's degree.
- Minimum 2 years' experience conducting outreach and engaging community organizations.
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn:
- Substance use prevention, harm reduction, and substance use disorder
- Impact of structural and institutional racism, and other forms of oppression, as well as strategies to promote racial and LGBTQ+ equity
- Collaborative, strengths-based approaches when working with youth, families and providers to promote community-building, resilience, and healing.
- Ability to work with a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings as assigned.
- Bilingual/bicultural strongly
- Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills including ability to practice self-reflection, give and receive constructive feedback, strong verbal and written communication skills, and build meaningful relationships and partnerships with organizations across different sectors, youth, parents/caregivers, adults and elders.
- Candidate must have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; must balance working independently and collaboratively to produce high-quality work and consistently meet deadlines.
- Strong writing skills, including the ability to develop accessible, clear and compelling materials such as slides, handouts, flyers, etc. for a variety of audiences.
