Cloud Cost Optimization Program Manager About Virtasant

Virtasant is a global technology services company with a network of over 4,000 technology professionals across 130+ countries. We specialize in cloud architecture, infrastructure, migration, and optimization, helping enterprises scale efficiently while maintaining cost control.

Our clients range from Fortune 500 companies to fast-growing startups, relying on us to build high-performance infrastructure, optimize cloud environments, and enable continuous delivery at scale.

About the role

We are looking for a senior Cloud Cost Optimization Program Manager (FinOps) to support a large-scale cloud optimization program for a Fortune 50 technology organization.

This role sits at the intersection of FinOps, cloud infrastructure, data, and technical program management. You will work directly with Cloud Service Provider (CSP) partners, engineering teams, and senior leadership to identify cloud savings opportunities, drive optimization initiatives through execution, and establish scalable processes for cloud cost governance.

This is not a reporting-only FinOps role. We’re looking for someone who can understand the technical and financial drivers of cloud spend, turn data into actionable initiatives, and influence engineering teams to deliver measurable outcomes.

This opportunity is open to candidates based in the United States and Canada and requires significant overlap with Pacific Time (PST/PDT).

For US-based candidates, this is a W-2 contract opportunity. We are unable to provide current or future employment visa sponsorship for this role.

What You’ll Do
  • Partner directly with AWS and GCP account and technical teams to identify savings opportunities, resolve billing or data issues, and drive optimization commitments through completion.

  • Build and manage a pipeline of cloud cost reduction initiatives across compute, storage, networking, and platform services.

  • Partner with engineering teams to scope, prioritize, and track initiatives such as rightsizing, commitment optimization, architecture changes, and workload migrations.

  • Monitor cloud spend, anomalies, forecasts, and optimization opportunities, proactively identifying risks and areas for improvement.

  • Work with cloud billing, usage, tagging, and allocation data to support cost analysis and savings validation.

  • Prepare financial analyses, business cases, forecasts, and savings reports for senior and executive stakeholders.

  • Translate complex cloud infrastructure and financial data into clear recommendations and decision-making narratives.

  • Own recurring cloud cost governance and reporting cadences across engineering and leadership teams.

  • Improve processes around tagging, forecasting, cost allocation, savings validation, and optimization tracking.

  • Manage timelines, dependencies, risks, and deliverables across multiple engineering and business teams.

  • Drive execution through influence and strong stakeholder relationships rather than direct authority.

What We’re Looking ForMust-Have Experience
  • 14+ years of professional experience, including significant experience leading complex technical programs in large enterprise environments.

  • Strong experience with FinOps, cloud cost optimization, cloud economics, or cloud financial management.

  • Strong knowledge of AWS and/or GCP, including cloud infrastructure, pricing, billing, usage, and cost optimization concepts.

  • Demonstrated experience driving measurable cloud cost optimization initiatives with engineering or infrastructure teams.

  • Strong Technical Program Management experience across complex, cross-functional engineering initiatives.

  • Experience partnering directly with Cloud Service Providers and/or managing CSP-related technical and cost initiatives.

  • Ability to work with cloud cost and usage data, with working knowledge of SQL, scripting, data pipelines, and/or data modeling.

  • Experience developing financial analyses, forecasts, business cases, savings reporting, and executive-level communications.

  • Proven ability to influence engineering teams and drive delivery without direct management authority.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to senior and executive stakeholders.

  • Based in the United States or Canada with availability for significant Pacific Time overlap.

  • For US candidates, existing authorization to work in the United States without current or future employment visa sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves
  • Experience with Apptio Cloudability, VMware CloudHealth, or similar FinOps platforms.

  • Experience with AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Cost and Usage Reports (CUR), GCP Cloud Billing, or equivalent native CSP tooling.

  • FinOps Foundation certification or other formal FinOps training.

  • Experience supporting cloud environments operating at significant enterprise scale.

  • Experience designing or improving tagging, cost allocation, forecasting, anomaly management, or cloud governance processes.

  • Exposure to multi-cloud cost optimization across both AWS and GCP.

Tools and Environment
  • AWS

  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

  • Apptio Cloudability / CloudHealth

  • Native CSP billing and cost-management tools

  • SQL and cloud cost/usage datasets

  • Data pipelines and reporting platforms

  • FinOps frameworks and practices

Why This Role is Exciting

You’ll have the opportunity to influence cloud economics at significant enterprise scale, working directly with engineering organizations, CSP partners, and executive stakeholders.

Rather than simply identifying savings opportunities, you’ll help turn them into measurable results — shaping how cloud optimization initiatives are prioritized, executed, measured, and scaled across a complex technology organization.

This role offers substantial ownership and visibility for someone who enjoys combining technical understanding, financial analysis, program leadership, and stakeholder influence.

What we offer
  • Remote opportunity for candidates based in the United States and Canada.

  • For US-based candidates, W-2 contract engagement.

  • Paid time off after the first 3 months of engagement, including applicable local holidays.

  • Long-term opportunity supporting a large-scale global technology organization.

  • Collaboration with senior engineering leaders, cloud specialists, CSP partners, and executive stakeholders.

  • High-impact work with direct, measurable influence on cloud optimization and operational efficiency.
