About us:

Ironside Insurance Group is a privately owned independent agency founded in 2012 in downtown Boston’s financial district, quickly growing to become a leader in the personal and commercial lines industry. We have been one of Inc 5000’s Fasted Growing Companies and named by The Insurance Journal as a “Best Agency to Work For”. Working at Ironside Insurance Group isn’t just a job. It’s your livelihood and we are heavily invested in our neighborhood and community. We recognize that the work our employees do ties directly to our overall success. We pride ourselves on providing a positive and collaborative team environment for our employees while providing our customers with the best service and experience possible.   We are always seeking talented, driven, critical thinkers who want to be a part of something better than the average insurance agency.

Job Description:

Ironside is looking for a Commercial Lines Account Executive to help lead the client experience for a growing book of Mid-Market Commercial Clients. This is a senior, client-facing role for someone who can manage strategy, drive renewals, support producers, work with carriers, and help elevate the overall team.

The ideal candidate likes to be in the middle of the action: solving problems, advising clients, organizing strategy, helping producers win, pushing carriers, and making sure clients feel like they are in good hands. The right person will be polished but not stiff, technical but not robotic, and organized enough to manage complexity inside a fast-growing company.

While this opportunity is hybrid, the ideal candidate must be based in Massachusetts, Rhode Island or Connecticut as travel to attend meetings in and around Boston will be occasionally required.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on Middle Market service strategy and client experience for largest, VIP clients.
  • Lead renewal planning, including exposure review, timeline management, carrier strategy, proposal development, and client presentations.
  • Work with producers to retain and grow key accounts, while providing leadership in industry specialty education and growth.
  • Review coverage programs and identify gaps, improvements, and account-rounding opportunities.
  • Coordinate with client managers to ensure service work, documentation, certificates, endorsements, audits, and policy checking are handled accurately.
  • Build strong relationships with carriers and advocate for clients during marketing, underwriting, claims, and renewal negotiations.
  • Help manage complex service issues, coverage questions, claims concerns, billing problems, and client escalations.
  • Support and mentor internal team members as Ironside continues building a polished, proactive commercial service model.

Required Skills:

  • At least five years direct commercial insurance experience in an independent agency or brokerage environment, managing larger, more complex commercial accounts.
  • Property & Casualty license required, specialty designations and CPCU or CIC preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of property, general liability, commercial auto, umbrella/excess, workers compensation, builders risk, professional liability, management liability, and related coverages.
  • Strong understanding of carrier appetites, submission quality, underwriting questions, and coverage negotiation.
  • Experience with real estate, construction, advanced industries, life science and loss sensitive & captive programs a plus.
  • Ability to lead renewal strategy, not just react to renewal terms.
  • Confidence communicating with business owners, real estate operators, developers, controllers, CFOs, underwriters, and producers.

Benefits:

At Ironside Insurance Group, our Total Rewards Package consists of:

  • Competitive compensation package to include:
    • Base salary
    • Performance-based increases and bonus opportunities
  • 401k with up to a 4% company match (after 90 days)
  • Comprehensive health, dental and vision benefits with company contributions for both employees and their dependents
  • Group life insurance, short and long-term disability as well as accidental death insurance fully paid by Ironside
  • Generous flexible time off plan as well as paid holidays
  • Parental leave
  • 100% remote work environment, providing necessary equipment to help create your ideal workspace
