Job Description

General Summary:

The Director, Chief of Staff is a key thought partner and advisor to the SVP, North America Commercial on a variety of strategic, operational, and organizational matters. The role leads strategic initiatives and collaborates to execute cross-functional projects and ensure alignment with business goals.  The Chief of Staff role requires both strategic thinking an ability to manage complex details, understand the business and drive action across a variety of therapeutic areas and functions.  The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and organized individual with exceptional emotional intelligence, communication, and presentation skills, and demonstrated ability to exercise excellent judgement and discretion. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • As a member of the North America Leadership Team (NALT) and the North America Commercial Leadership Team (NAC LT), work closely with the SVP and other leadership to set strategic direction for the NA Commercial organization and ensure alignment with strategic objectives
  • Lead key business processes on behalf of NAC including Long Range Planning, Brand Planning, Budgeting / Resourcing and reward and recognition processes and programs
  • Develop and manage a process for measuring and reporting progress on high-priority initiatives and programs across the North America Commercial organization
  • Keep NALT and NAC LT and other key stakeholders informed on key accomplishments, issues, and next steps
  • Support the SVP in defining and developing high-impact executive communications and develop a comprehensive engagement plan; provide strategic vision and oversight for ongoing NA Communications e.g., Town Halls, People Manager Forums, and Friday Updates
  • Create compelling presentations for SVP across a range of topics including business updates, presentations to non-commercial functions, and Executive Committee and Board of Director presentations
  • Lead and/or manage additional special projects and high-profile initiatives, as appropriate
  • Engage with disease area Business Unit Leadership Teams (BULTs) to promote best practices across BULTs as well as to ensure awareness of insights and issues and for necessary context to support SVP
  • Set vision and lead events including the annual VAKO and Pinnacle, Compass & Apex awards; serve in an advisory capacity for POAs for BULTs
  • Develop agendas and manage key meetings to ensure that important decisions and action items are fully addressed (e.g., NALT)
  • Function as a liaison between the SVP and cross functional colleagues to ensure alignment and coordination on a wide variety of cross-functional initiatives

  • Navigates organizational complexities, recommends solutions, and promotes collaboration across functions

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline
  • 10+ years of progressive, relevant experience with demonstrated experience as a chief of staff, or organizing and directing multiple cross-functional teams and departments

Pay Range:

$182,800 - $274,200

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
