About the Role

Abnormal AI stops the attacks other tools miss by understanding the behavior of every identity inside an organization. We protect more than 5,000 customers, including 30% of the Fortune 500, and we are growing from one product to a five-product AI Security suite. This role makes sure Finance keeps up.

The Chief of Staff to the CFO runs the CFO's most important strategic programs and makes sure they finish. You will sit in the room where priorities are set, then own the follow-through across Finance, GTM, R&D, Legal, and People. It is a high-autonomy, high-trust role, and nobody has written the playbook. You will see the full operating picture of a fast-growing company and shape how it matures.

AI is part of the job, not a side project. You will run Finance's AI adoption, build tools the team actually uses, and show others what is possible.

What you'll own
  • Strategic programs. Run cross-functional programs for the CFO and strategy team: scope, milestones, owners, a weekly cadence, and a one-page status for the executive team. Escalate blockers early.
  • Scale and controls. Own a program across 8 functional areas, from Accounting and controls to IT, cyber, and People, tracked against quarterly targets. Manage workstreams with external auditors and legal counsel.
  • Finance operating rhythm. Run goal-setting, check-ins, and progress reporting, and track commitments across the CFO's direct reports so open items close on time.
  • AI in Finance. Run recurring enablement and build practical tools for real workflows, such as performance review drafting, talent review intake, and action-item tracking. Report impact in hours saved and adoption.
  • Talent, international expansion, and ESG. Run Finance talent reviews, the pulse survey, and team learning. Own the framework for deciding where Abnormal can sell, transact, and hire. Run the ESG engagement.
What 12 months looks like
  • The executive team gets a one-page status every week, and no program surprises them.
  • Finance commitments close on their date, and slips are visible before they happen.
  • AI adoption in Finance rises every quarter, measured in hours saved and active users.
What you bring
  • 12+ years in a Chief of Staff, program management, strategy and operations, or consulting role, ideally with Finance exposure or time at a late-stage, high-growth SaaS company.
  • A record of running multi-stakeholder programs with hard deadlines, such as an audit, a systems implementation, or a compliance effort.
  • You turn ambiguity into owners and dates, and you have started programs from a blank page.
  • Strong writing and executive presence. You will represent the CFO in leadership settings.
  • You push for dates and hold senior people to their commitments without making it personal.
  • You use AI to change how work gets done, and you can show us something you built.
Nice to Have
  • MBA or equivalent experience
  • AI or cybersecurity SaaS experience
  • Experience in Finance talent and culture programs

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
