Our Mission

Re:wild protects and restores the wild. We have a singular and powerful focus: the wild as the most effective solution to the interconnected climate, biodiversity, and human wellbeing crises. Founded by a group of renowned conservation scientists together with Leonardo DiCaprio, Re:wild is a force multiplier that brings together Indigenous Peoples, local communities, influential leaders, nongovernmental organizations, governments, companies and the public to protect and rewild at the scale and speed we need. Learn more at www.rewild.org.

The Opportunity

Re:wild is at a pivotal moment in its growth. Our science-based partnerships span the globe. Our model is working. What we need now is a world-class revenue leader to match the ambition of our mission with the capital it requires.

As Chief Revenue Officer, you will be the architect of Re:wild’s next era of growth — partnering directly with the CEO and the rest of the Executive Team to build, diversify, and scale the revenue engine that funds some of the most consequential conservation work on Earth. You will sit at the intersection of philanthropic innovation, global finance, and urgent environmental action.

One thing that makes Re:wild structurally unique: our core donors fund organizational overhead, which means 100% of all other philanthropic contributions go directly to co-fund programmatic work. That’s a powerful story to tell, and you’ll be the one telling it to the world’s most mission-aligned donors and institutions.

Role & Responsibilities

Priorities

• Lead the organization’s overall revenue growth strategy, from vision to execution.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for inbound partnership and funding opportunities — assessing legitimacy, fit, and resourcing needs before mobilizing internal teams.

• Grow revenue from $100M in 2026 to $250M by 2030.

• Increase direct programmatic co-funding to on-the-ground partners, aligned with the ‘one plan’ approaches of Re:wild and other international co-funders.

• Lead and inspire Re:wild’s philanthropy team while coordinating closely with Programs, Communications/Marketing, and Operations, whose work is integral to donor identification, cultivation, and stewardship — building capacity within Re:wild’s existing structure rather than a standalone fundraising function.

• Translate complex conservation visions into compelling, investor-grade funding narratives for major donors and innovative finance partners.

• Identify, evaluate, and integrate innovative revenue mechanisms, such as blended finance, conservation bonds, debt-for-nature swaps, relevant market-based mechanisms, ESG-aligned investments, and pooled funding vehicles, into Re:wild’s overall revenue strategy.

• Build and curate philanthropic councils and advisory bodies that expand Re:wild’s network.

• Develop Re:wild’s “beyond donor-advised fund” model, a unique offering that positions Re:wild as a trusted conservation investment advisor for high-net-worth individuals, corporations, and foundations.

• Partner with program teams to understand opportunities and needs, and translate complex conservation visions into compelling, funder-ready investment cases.

• Work closely with the Executive Team to drive support for Re:wild’s highest-priority initiatives, including emerging conservation funding alliances, and with partners, to develop and implement multi-year funding strategies.

• Own Salesforce as Re:wild’s revenue backbone, pipeline visibility, donor stewardship, donor analytics, donor strategy, forecasting, and staff activity.

What We’re Looking For

Must-Haves

• 10+ years of relevant leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a senior revenue, development, or philanthropic leadership role

• A demonstrated track record of designing and executing multi-year fundraising strategies that materially grow revenue, not just managing existing portfolios

• Experience with sophisticated donor engagement, including major gifts, institutional funding, and/or blended finance or innovative funding mechanisms

• A bold, collaborative leadership style with a proven ability to build and inspire high-performing teams

• High tolerance for ambiguity and demonstrated patience navigating slow-moving or unconventional external stakeholders (e.g., family offices, celebrity representatives, corporate intermediaries) without letting it derail relationships

• Exceptional communication skills, the ability to inspire donors, partners, and internal teams with equal fluency

• Strong operational instincts: you can hold the big vision and make sure the pipeline is accurate

• Familiarity with Salesforce CRM for pipeline management and donor analytics, as well as an interest in adopting AI tools to drive impact and efficiency.

• Understanding of charitable giving legal guidelines and nonprofit compliance

• Genuine commitment to Re:wild’s mission

Nice-to-Haves

• Background in conservation, environment, or related fields

• Fluency or working proficiency in Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese, or Bahasa

• Advanced degree in a relevant field

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $200,000–$250,000, commensurate with experience

• Comprehensive health coverage: medical, dental, and vision, with Re:wild covering 68–100% of premiums; plus short- and long-term disability and life insurance

• 403(b) retirement plan with up to 3% employer match (after one year)

• 16 paid holidays annually

• Accrued leave: up to 15 vacation days, 12 sick days, and 2 volunteer days per year

• Significant domestic and international travel expected

• Flexibility to work across global time zones as needed

How to Apply

To be considered for this position, interested candidates must submit their application by the application deadline. Application deadline: November 6, 2026.

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
