The Role: Capital Projects Purchasing SpecialistSwitch is seeking a Capital Projects Purchasing Specialist with hands-on Oracle Fusion experience to support large-scale capital construction projects across our data center portfolio.
This role is designed for a procurement professional who understands the unique demands of capital construction purchasing — including project budgets, long-lead equipment, construction schedules, supplier commitments, change management, receiving, and project closeout — and who has experience using Oracle Fusion to execute and improve those processes.
You will manage purchasing activities from requisition through purchase order closeout while partnering closely with Project Management, Engineering, Construction, Finance, and IT. You will also serve as a key business partner in the implementation and ongoing optimization of Oracle Fusion SCM Procurement and its integration with Project Portfolio Management (PPM) and Finance/Accounting.
Success in this role requires both capital-project procurement experience and hands-on Oracle Fusion experience.
What You'll Do Capital Project Procurement-
Manage the end-to-end purchasing lifecycle for large-scale capital construction projects, including requisitions, sourcing, purchase orders, change orders, receiving, invoice issue resolution, and PO closeout.
-
Procure construction materials, equipment, and services while aligning purchasing activities with project budgets, construction schedules, and required-on-site dates.
-
Partner with Project Managers, Engineering, Construction, Project Controls, and Finance to manage purchasing commitments and ensure materials and equipment support project milestones.
-
Manage procurement of long-lead and schedule-critical equipment and materials, proactively identifying supplier, delivery, and cost risks.
-
Solicit competitive bids and proposals and evaluate suppliers based on pricing, commercial terms, qualifications, lead times, and project requirements.
-
Monitor purchase orders, supplier performance, delivery schedules, change orders, receiving status, and outstanding commitments through project completion.
-
Support contract administration and commercial compliance in partnership with Legal and Compliance.
-
Ensure purchase orders and supplier transactions are appropriately aligned to capital project budgets, project/task structures, and cost classifications.
-
Serve as a procurement business subject matter expert for Oracle Fusion, with hands-on involvement in purchasing workflows and system processes.
-
Utilize Oracle Fusion SCM Procurement to manage requisitions, purchase orders, supplier transactions, receiving, and purchasing activities for capital projects.
-
Work across Oracle Fusion SCM Procurement, Project Portfolio Management (PPM), and Finance/Accounting to support accurate project cost allocation and financial reporting.
-
Partner with IT, Finance, Procurement, and project stakeholders to design and improve Oracle Fusion purchasing workflows for capital construction.
-
Support Oracle Fusion implementation and enhancements through requirements definition, process validation, system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), defect resolution, and go-live support.
-
Validate end-to-end transactions from requisition ? purchase order ? receipt ? invoice ? project cost/accounting.
-
Identify opportunities to improve purchasing controls, workflow automation, data quality, project cost visibility, and operational efficiency.
-
Develop process documentation, job aids, and training materials and support end-user adoption of Oracle Fusion procurement processes.
You understand that capital-project procurement is more than issuing purchase orders. You know how purchasing decisions affect project budgets, construction schedules, project costs, and equipment availability, and you are comfortable working with Project Managers, Engineers, Construction teams, Finance, and suppliers to keep projects moving.
You are also a strong Oracle Fusion user who understands the business processes behind the system. You can identify where a procurement workflow is not working, partner with technical teams to improve it, test the solution, and help users successfully adopt the new process.
What You'll Bring Required-
3+ years of purchasing or procurement experience directly supporting capital construction, capital projects, or large-scale infrastructure programs.
-
Hands-on experience with Oracle Fusion SCM Procurement, including purchase requisitions, purchase orders, suppliers, receiving, and related procurement workflows.
-
Experience managing the purchasing lifecycle for capital equipment, construction materials, and/or construction services.
-
Working knowledge of capital project budgets, project cost controls, commitments, change orders, and project closeout.
-
Experience partnering with Project Management, Engineering, Construction, Project Controls, and/or Finance teams in a capital-project environment.
-
Experience supporting an ERP implementation, enhancement, or major process change, including system testing and/or user acceptance testing.
-
Experience sourcing suppliers, conducting RFQs/RFPs, evaluating commercial proposals, and managing supplier performance.
-
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Accounting, Construction Management, or a related field.
-
Hands-on experience with Oracle Fusion Project Portfolio Management (PPM), Project Costing, or project-related procurement integrations.
-
Experience supporting an Oracle Fusion implementation or major enhancement as a procurement business SME, super user, or functional partner.
-
Experience supporting data center, mission-critical, industrial, energy, semiconductor, utility, or other large-scale infrastructure construction.
-
Experience procuring long-lead or critical-path construction equipment and materials.
-
Understanding of project accounting and capital project financial reporting.
-
Experience developing procurement workflows, SOPs, testing scripts, job aids, and end-user training materials.
