Armstrong Transport Group is looking for an experienced Capacity Manager to lead our Capacity team.

You’ll use your transportation knowledge, leadership skills, and understanding of the capacity market to coach and develop Capacity Sales Representatives, drive team performance, and strengthen carrier relationships. You’ll partner closely with Account Management and other internal teams to solve capacity challenges, improve processes, and ensure our teams and carriers have the information, technology, and support they need to deliver outstanding service.

What You’ll Accomplish
  • Lead, coach, and develop Capacity Sales Representatives through ongoing training, feedback, and performance management
  • Build a high-performing team focused on carrier relationships, reliable capacity, and achieving sales targets
  • Monitor team metrics and performance to identify opportunities, address challenges, and drive continuous improvement
  • Partner across teams to create efficient communication and collaboration between Capacity, Account Management, and other internal roles
  • Support the team in negotiating competitive carrier rates while balancing service, margin, and customer expectations
  • Ensure carrier requirements, regulations, and company standards are understood and consistently followed
  • Develop strong market knowledge and stay current on freight trends, capacity conditions, and rate movements
  • Identify and implement time- and cost-saving opportunities that improve team efficiency and the carrier experience
  • Leverage technology, data, and market insights to support informed capacity decisions and keep internal teams and carriers aligned
  • Work directly with carriers and internal partners to proactively resolve challenges and deliver outstanding service to customers
What You’ll BringRequired Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional work experience, preferably within transportation, logistics, brokerage, or a related industry
  • 2+ years of proven experience managing and leading a team
  • Experience working with carriers and a strong understanding of transportation operations and communication
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and hold team members accountable to performance expectations
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and communicate insights to the appropriate teams
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, challenges, and competing priorities in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
