Cimulate is an AI-native eCommerce search and discovery platform built on cutting-edge LLM technology. We help commerce brands deliver radically better shopping experiences—faster, more relevant, and easier to manage—by understanding context rather than relying on brittle rules-based personalization. Backed by top investors and founded by a team who’ve already built and sold another commerce startup (Celect to Nike), we’re now building the future of contextual commerce, and we’re just getting started.
The Role:

We are seeking a motivated and energetic Business Development Representative (BDR) to join our Boston-based team. The BDR will play a critical role in driving new business opportunities by identifying, engaging, and qualifying prospective customers. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys building relationships, is excited about contributing to the growth of a cutting-edge AI company, and is looking to begin a career in tech sales.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate and qualify leads through outbound prospecting, email campaigns, calls, and social engagement.
  • Conduct research to identify target accounts and decision-makers in key industries.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Cimulate's product offerings to effectively communicate value to prospects.
  • Schedule and set up meetings or demos between qualified leads and Account Executives.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, and Product teams to refine messaging and outreach strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of all prospecting activity and pipeline progress in CRM tools.
  • Meet and exceed individual and team performance goals for lead generation and conversion.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience in a sales, business development, or customer-facing role preferred, but not required. We welcome motivated candidates who are eager to learn and grow into the role.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong ability to engage prospects through both written and verbal channels.
  • Highly motivated, goal-oriented, and eager to learn.
  • Self starter with a curious and creative mindset.
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce) a plus.
  • Must be able to work on-site in our Boston, MA office.

Why join us:

  • Competitive salary and performance-based incentives.
  • Comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, vision, 401k).
  • A collaborative, high-energy work environment with room to grow.
  • The chance to be part of a fast-scaling AI company shaping the future of data-driven business.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
