Velir is an established mid-sized agency with a top-tier portfolio of clients, ranging from the world’s largest non-profits to Fortune 500 brands. As of 2023, Velir acquired Brooklyn Data Company, a premier data and analytics consultancy focused on leadership, process improvement, implementation, and advanced analytics.

At Velir, we believe people are our greatest asset. Our culture is built on a foundation of trust, collaboration, and continued improvement. We strive for excellence in everything we do, embracing challenges as opportunities for growth. Our success is driven by a shared passion for making a positive impact on our customers, our communities and each other. We are a remote first company that offers competitive pay and excellent benefits.

Overview

Velir is a data-driven digital experience agency that helps enterprise organizations across financial services, higher education, nonprofit, and public sector lead digital transformation. Through Velir and our Data Studio, Brooklyn Data Co., we fuse strategy, creativity, platform engineering, and data and AI expertise to help our clients keep pace with — and lead through — constant change.

We're growing our new business sales engine, and we're looking for a sharp, driven Sales Development Representative to be the first voice many prospects hear from Velir. This is a front-line revenue role with real ownership, real numbers, and a real path to a career in B2B technology and digital agency sales.

As Velir's Business Development Representative, your primary mission is simple to state and hard to execute well: lock in qualified sales calls that convert into closed revenue. You'll sit at the very front of our new business pipeline, working directly with our EVP, Growth and our sales and partnerships team to identify, engage, and convert the right prospects into real opportunities.

This is not a role where you'll quietly send emails into the void. You'll be an active, visible driver of Velir's growth — working webinars, industry events, partner activities, and outbound campaigns, with one consistent goal: get the right people on the phone with the right members of our team.

Responsibilities:

Outbound Prospecting & Call Generation

  • Proactively prospect and qualify new business opportunities across target accounts, industries, and personas defined by Velir's growth strategy
  • Secure a quarterly target number of qualified discovery calls for the sales team — this is your primary, measurable goal
  • Conduct high-volume, high-quality outbound outreach via phone, email, and LinkedIn to decision-makers at target organizations
  • Qualify inbound leads generated by marketing, website traffic, and content engagement to ensure sales time is spent on the right conversations

Event, Webinar & Activity-Driven Outreach

  • Build and execute structured outreach campaigns tied to Velir's calendar of webinars, conferences, trade shows, and on-site events — covering pre-event, post-event, pre-webinar, and post-webinar touchpoints
  • Follow up promptly and persistently with attendees, registrants, and engaged prospects to convert event interest into booked calls
  • Partner with Marketing to identify the highest-intent leads coming out of every event and webinar, and prioritize outreach accordingly
  • Track and report on which events, webinars, and campaigns generate the strongest pipeline — and use that data to sharpen future outreach

Tools, Systems & Campaign Execution

  • Work daily within Apollo, LeadLander, and Salesforce to manage outreach, track website visitor intent, and maintain clean, accurate pipeline data
  • Build and manage multi-touch outbound campaigns and sequences — combining email, calls, and social outreach into a coordinated cadence
  • Use LeadLander and other intent signals to identify accounts actively researching Velir or our service areas, and prioritize fast follow-up
  • Maintain rigorous Salesforce hygiene — every call, every touch, every qualified opportunity logged and trackable

Collaboration & Pipeline Partnership

  • Work closely with the EVP, Growth and senior sales leadership to align outreach strategy with target accounts and revenue priorities
  • Collaborate with the Partnerships Directors to identify co-marketing and joint outreach opportunities
  • Provide front-line market feedback — objections, competitive intel, and messaging signals — back to sales and marketing leadership
Skills & Qualifications:
  • 1–3 years of experience in an SDR, BDR, inside sales, or similar outbound prospecting role — agency, SaaS, or B2B technology environment preferred
  • A genuine drive to win — you're motivated by hitting numbers, not just staying busy
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; confident and articulate on the phone with senior decision-makers
  • Hands-on experience with sales engagement and CRM tools — Apollo, Salesforce, Outreach, SalesLoft, or similar; LeadLander or other web visitor intelligence tools a plus
  • Comfort building structured, multi-touch outbound campaigns rather than relying on one-off outreach
  • Highly organized with strong follow-through — you don't let a warm lead go cold
  • A team-oriented mindset — you'll work closely with sales, marketing, and partnerships, and your success depends on strong collaboration across all three
  • Genuine curiosity about digital transformation, marketing technology, and enterprise software — you don't need to be an expert on day one, but you should want to become one

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent sitting at a desk performing work on a computer
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
Compensation Range: $55,000-65,000k USD Annually plus commission

Please note that compensation packages are finalized after the interview process is concluded. We use a competency-based approach to base pay, which means it is based on the competencies and skills demonstrated for this role.

Core Company Values
  • Take the Long View - Ensure the company is built to last
  • Be Courageous - Make the right decisions even when they aren't the easiest decisions
  • Be Genuine - Bring honesty and authenticity to all that you do
  • Work with Focus + Passion - Display purpose and pride in your work and never stop learning

As an equal opportunity employer, we are firmly committing to diversity, equity, and inclusion in our hiring efforts. We recognize that we need team members from all backgrounds and experiences to successfully shape a positive employee experience as well as deliver our product and service solutions. To that end, we actively seek candidates who can bring diverse experiences and backgrounds to our team. We know that complex factors and systemic bias can get in the way of us meeting strong candidates, so please don't hesitate to apply even if you're not 100% sure.

At this time, Velir does not sponsor candidates and unfortunately cannot accept those on OPT or CPT.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
