Business Development Manager, Travel Advisor Channel

Target Start Date: September 1, 2026

Application Deadline: July 31, 2026

Location: This is a fully remote position. To be considered, applicants must reside in one of the following states: CA, CO, CT, FL, IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OR, RI, TX, VA, VI, VT, WA, or WI.

  • Candidates based in the New England area (CT, MA, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI) are strongly preferred.

In-Office Expectation: While this role is remote, New England-based team members are expected to visit our Boston office approximately once a month to connect with their manager and team.

About the Role:

EF Go Ahead Tours is looking for a driven, relationship-first Business Development Manager to grow our Travel Advisor channel. This is a ground-floor opportunity where you will own the full lifecycle from identifying and signing new advisors to activating their first booking and building the long-term volume that follows. You’ll be the face of EF Go Ahead Tours to the advisor community: part sales, part educator, part territory entrepreneur.

This role is B2B at its core. As one of EF’s first hires in this channel, you will help build the strategy, tools, and processes needed to scale our Travel Advisor program nationally. This is a unique opportunity to shape a growing priority channel and define how we partner with advisors for long-term success.

What You’ll Do:

Grow the Advisor Network

  • Prospect, sign, and activate Travel Advisors and agency accounts across your territory.
  • Execute a territory plan: call cadences, agency visits, trade shows, consortium events, and virtual presentations.
  • Hit monthly and quarterly new-activation targets.
  • Reactivate lapsed advisors and convert them into consistent producers.

Drive Bookings from Your Portfolio

  • Own booking volume across your active advisor book; accountable to quarterly revenue quotas.
  • Serve as the primary EF Go Ahead Tours contact for top-producing advisors, delivering training, promotional support, and account-level plans that include co-op marketing.

Represent the Brand

  • Attend tradeshows, consortium events, and industry conferences.
  • Equip advisors with co-op materials and booking incentives in collaboration with Marketing.

Manage Your Territory Rigorously

  • Maintain accurate CRM data; track pipeline, activities, and booking attribution.
  • Report on KPIs weekly and, as a founding channel member, contribute to the advisor program playbook, portal requirements, and commission tier design.

What We’re Looking For:

Required

  • 5+ years of B2B sales or business development experience in the travel industry (tour operator, cruise line, Destination Management Company, or similar).
  • Demonstrated track record of prospecting and closing new accounts, not just managing existing relationships.
  • Deep familiarity with the Travel Advisor distribution channel: consortia (Virtuoso, Ensemble, Signature, Travel Leaders), host agencies (Fora, Nexion, Outside Agents), and independent agencies.
  • Self-starter who can build a territory from scratch with minimal day-to-day oversight, comfortable operating in ambiguity.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, comfortable training a room of advisors or pitching a consortium executive.
  • Ability to travel up to 40%, including overnight stays and occasional domestic and international travel for company events.
  • Must have at least 4 years of relevant work experience or a 4-year degree.

Preferred

  • Existing relationships with travel advisors, agency owners, or consortium contacts.
  • Experience with guided tour operators (escorted touring, river cruise, or similar product categories).
  • Passion for travel and firsthand experience with international destinations.
  • Proficiency with salesforce.

In addition, you can expect:

  • Dependent care, healthcare and commuter Flex Spending Accounts (FSAs)
  • Access to fertility care and family-building support
  • Wellness benefits including a yearly fitness reimbursement
  • Frequent social and learning events, including access to our employee-run resource groups
  • Robust Employee Assistance Program
  • Tenure-based sabbatical eligibility
  • EF Product Discounts (discounts on travel, international language schools, Au Pair program and more)
  • Discounts at local venues and businesses
  • Compensation: The base salary range for this role will be $70,000-$75,000 commensurate with experience, with additional $30,000-$35,000 bonus potential based on performance
About Us
Some companies are in the business of banking. Others are in the business of shoes. Or sports. Or soft drinks. At EF, we're in a different kind of business. Between cultures.

For over half a century we’ve been the leader in international educational programs and experiences designed to foster such understanding.  Through language, cultural exchange, academic studies, and educational travel, we create the kinds of immersive experiences that challenge biases, open minds, and pave the way for a more understanding world.

You’ll find our offices and schools located in some of the world’s greatest cities, and filled with smart, driven people (over 50,000 of us) who push each other to be better every day. But it’s what we do together - building greater understanding, breaking down barriers, and creating a better world - that makes all the difference.

Founded in 1965 in Sweden, EF (Education First) is a global association of education companies that share a common mission of opening the world through education. EF has been recognized on Forbes 2025 and 2024 World’s Best Employers and 2024 Top Companies for Women lists, Fast Company’s 2025 Next Big Things In Tech, and was a 2024 App Store Award winner in Cultural Impact.
