Deep Origin is seeking a highly motivated and innovative individual to join our team as Business Development Executive. This individual will focus on delivering deals and generating revenue through partnerships. The successful candidate will work closely with our leadership and will directly contribute to the company's success by facilitating the commercial growth of Deep Origin. 

The ideal candidate must be an independent, open-minded, goal-oriented strategic business thinker with excellent communication skills and comfortable working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment. The Business Development Executive will be responsible for the development of new business opportunities, negotiating contracts, managing accounts, strategic business planning, and generating leads.

Business Development Director will develop new partnerships within the biotech and pharmaceutical industry for our key products and solutions. The ideal Business Development Executive will have a strong background in partnership development and a proven background with their ‘book of business’.  

Key responsibilities
  • Main responsibility is to develop and close business opportunities within Biotechnology & Pharma accounts through partnerships.
  • Use your existing contacts and experience to drive sales.
  • Actively participate in the analytics of an effective and efficient business development effort.
  • Profiling of target customers in terms of characterizing their positioning in the partnering landscape, understanding their structure and decision-making process, capturing the knowledge gained from deepening relationships and driving additional knowledge capture on behalf of Deep Origin.
  • Own pharma contact interface and leverage for Business Development analytics.
  • Prepare opportunity assessments with scientific/portfolio rationale, partnership framework and financial assessment, analysis of competitive landscape and comparable deal terms.
  • Lead, and support where needed, deal activities including campaign design, outreach, tracking, deal structure design, term sheet assessment, research planning.
  • Track progress, including coordinating the definition and reporting of the KPIs, as well as leading periodic health checks to monitor the strength and effectiveness of the partnership.
  • Build strategy for and communication of intelligence acquisition gained through medical conference attendance, analyst report review.
  • Develop and implement strategies to generate leads, acquire new customers, and achieve sales targets for Deep Origin’s products.
  • Identify and prospect potential clients and customers in the biotechnology and life sciences sectors through cold calling, networking, and relationship building.

Requirements
  • 10 years of professional experience, including in business strategy, business development, go-to-market, of which 5+ years of enterprise sales, business development, and lead generation roles.
  • An existing “book of business” in the life sciences field with special focus on early stage drug discovery.
  • Good understanding of the life sciences industry and ecosystem. Intimate understanding of customer needs and behaviours.
  • History of closing drug discovery partnership deals.
  • Ability to both tap into the existing network and proactively hunt for new business.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing successful business growth strategies.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in forecasting and sales pipeline management.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to meld technical understanding, market insights, and competitive intelligence into compelling, value-creating strategies.
  • Ability to plan and execute complex projects, and work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Curious, sharp business acumen.
  • Results-driven, high-performer with highly collaborative style.
  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, especially with PowerPoint and Excel.
  • PhD in biology, chemistry, or a related field.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites 25-30%.
  • Experience in partnership sales in biotech or pharma.
