Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for business development within Applied Technology with a primary focus on the Army Special Operations Forces (ARSOF) enterprise. You will drive and expand business across USASOC, 1st Special Forces Command (Airborne), and the Special Forces Groups, spanning strategic headquarters relationships down to tactical ODA-level engagement. You will promote and maintain strong relationships with ARSOF stakeholders and leverage existing programs while creating new market opportunities for specialized mission sets.

As part of the AT Business Development team, you will provide technical support to customers, demonstrate capabilities to current and potential partners, and interpret complex requirements to ensure AT products exceed expectations for the Army Special Operations community. You will work collaboratively across the organization including Business Development, Field Services, Development Engineering, Early Capture, and Senior Management.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Demonstrate AT products to USASOC and USASFC leadership, G-shops (including G2, G25, and G39), and Special Forces Group end users, emphasizing advantages for Ground, Airborne and UAS-integrated missions.
• Grow the business by identifying opportunities across the ARSOF enterprise—from USASOC and 1st SFC headquarters to the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 10th Special Forces Groups—and providing technical support to facilitate capture.
• Interpret customer requirements, communicating these needs to the development team to influence product roadmaps.
• Manage the business development process with specific attention to ARSOF opportunity identification, screening, forecasting, and capture across strategic and tactical levels.
• Participate in internal product testing and technical experiments (TEs) to ensure features are optimized for Airborne environments and ruggedized SOF use cases.
• Support trade shows, technical experiments, industry days, and customer engagements by showcasing AT’s advantages in the tactical communications space.
• Engage key ARSOF-aligned organizations and partners including SOCPAC, DTRA-Germany, Capability Development and Innovation (CD&I, formerly IWTSD), and others as relevant to the portfolio.

Specific Knowledge/Skills

• Deep familiarity and experience with SIGINT & EW mission requirements and tactical integration in the Army Special Operations environment.
• Proven experience with SIGINT & EW Tactical operations.
• Strong working knowledge of USASOC and 1st Special Forces Command structure, acquisition processes, and SOF requirements generation (including SOFCIDS/UFR pathways).
• Strong understanding of SIGINT/EW/ELINT/Cyber and Secure COMMS product requirements and sustainment.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate the unique culture of the Special Operations community—from 4-star headquarters to tactical ODA teams.
• Must be technically savvy with the ability to bridge the gap between company technical capabilities and complex operator requirements.
• Ability to travel on a regular basis (5-10 days/month) to support testing, Group-level engagements, and customer visits across key ARSOF locations (including JBLM, Fort Bragg, Fort Campbell, Eglin AFB, Fort Carson, and other relevant sites).

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
