The US Experience Analysis team is responsible for reviewing and understanding the assumptions and business drivers for all US division businesses: Life Insurance, LTC, and Annuities.  The experience team strives to continuously increase its business knowledge and explore opportunities to advance experience review methodologies.

The AVP, US Experience Analysis will lead a team of 12-13 to drive the continued advancement of experience reviews and provide insight into the drivers of experience and business results.  The leader should be driven, focused (but able to prioritize and change priorities), and knowledgeable about both the business, data and the impact of the policyholder behavior assumptions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, communicate and also strengthen processes for our experience studies for mortality, morbidity, lapse, premium persistency and other policyholder behavior. 
  • Advise and provide insight as part of regular forecasting (monthly and quarterly) and experience monitoring to assist in the ongoing observation of the inforce business.  Ensure consistency between expected assumptions and SOE.
  • Deliver (with CFO) Financial Plan and own policyholder experience related Plan numbers
  • Coordinate and provide analysis on experience to support explanation of earnings drivers to management.  This may involve driving analysis to understand deviation of experience from expected amounts.
  • Provide pro-active support, experience analysis oversight and analysis for organic and non-organic initiatives to optimize the value of the business
  • Provide actuarial and policyholder experience thought leadership on new business initiatives and assumptions
  • Expand actuarial experience analysis capabilities leveraging non-traditional data and AI tools; Develop and implement process improvements and/or simplify current calculations.
  • Build strong working relationships and lead direct reports to foster collaboration and relationships within team and with key stakeholders

What we are looking for:

  • FSA/FCIA designation, or equivalent
  • Expertise with Life and LTC products and extensive knowledge of JH Insurance business strongly preferred
  • Leadership and management skills, leading a team
  • Strong business acumen with an aptitude for strategic, critical, and analytical thinking
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong relationship management skills and ability to work within and across departments
  • Understanding the needs of various stakeholders across the organization
  • Ability to manage multiple projects of varying priorities levels and scope

Salary range is expected to be between

$156,700.00 USD - $290,900.00 USD

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
