Who we are:

Glydways is reimagining what public transit can be. We believe that mobility is the gateway to opportunity—connecting people to housing, education, employment, commerce, and care. By making transportation more accessible, affordable, and sustainable, we empower communities to thrive and unlock economic and social prosperity.

Our mission is to revolutionize transit with a solution that delivers high capacity, exceptional user experiences, unmatched affordability, and minimal environmental impact.

The Glydways system is a groundbreaking network of carbon-neutral, interconnected transit pathways powered by standardized autonomous vehicles on dedicated roadways. Operating 24/7 with on-demand access, it offers personalized and efficient mobility—without the burden of heavy upfront infrastructure costs or ongoing taxpayer subsidies.

With Glydways, we’re building more than a transportation system; we’re creating a future where everyone, everywhere, has the freedom to move.

Meet the team:

You'll be part of Glydways' Autonomy Motion Team focused on vehicle coordination, planning, mapping, and movement. This team fuses expertise in motion control, multi-agent coordination, and map infrastructure to enable safe, efficient autonomous rides for every passenger. Part of the team's responsibility is to create, maintain, and evolve map features, ensuring that every route is deconflicted, every traffic flow is optimized, and every journey is precise and comfortable. By collaborating across embedded, infrastructure, perception, and operations, the team pushes forward cutting-edge autonomy technologies, dynamic algorithms, and rigorous real-world testing.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement map software infrastructure (data models, APIs, visualization and editing tools) for various map features and building blocks such as stations, intersections, curved roads, slopes, merges, etc.

  • Build, validate, and maintain robust pipelines for automated and manual map generation, validation, and ingestion from source data (point clouds, OSM, CAD, logs, sensor data, etc.)

  • Develop and maintain GUIs and visualization tools enabling cross-team inspection, testing, review, and debugging.

  • Implement advanced geometric and topological algorithms to support spatial geometry (splines, spirals, snap-to-infrastructure, road grade, etc.) and edge/node semantics.

  • Support the implementation and evolution of segment types and semantics and their constraints/validation.

  • Integrate mapping assets with autonomy simulation, test, and log pipeline (map updates propagated to CI/vehicle test scenarios, support for regression analysis and real/synthetic data).

  • Collaborate cross-functionally on requirements capture with planning, controls, perception, infrastructure, and operations teams; support scenarios/tests with appropriate map configurations.

  • Develop and apply quality, integrity checking, and visualization/validation tools for map quality, alignment, and update processes.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 3+ years of C++ (primary), Python (supporting), with a record of robust, testable code in graph and geometry-heavy domains.

  • Deep knowledge of computational geometry (splines, curves, coordinates/frame transforms, quaternions, vector math, noise/uncertainty handling).

  • Experience with graph structures and algorithms (traversal, pathfinding, node/edge property management, validation).

  • Practical skills building and debugging user-facing visualization tooling (GUI, web-based, or desktop).

  • Familiarity with mapping data sources, pipelines, and automated/manual adjustment: OSM, lidar/PCD, scenario config, etc.

  • Source control best-practices (git/branching/review, automated/unit/system test infra, code/PR health).

  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills for cross-functional requirements gathering and impact analysis.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
