Educate others on SE benefits and methodology, managing needed organizational change and leading by example in disciplined product engineering execution.

  • Work closely with Product Managers and program stakeholders in clarifying product requirements.  Solicit requirements from stakeholders and subject-matter experts. Perform analysis and experimentation to ensure requirements are properly parameterized. Personally author high quality system requirements.

  • Clarify the evolving Concept of Operations, ensuring that the intended breadth of use cases are clearly defined for the product.

  • Design and actively manage critical mechatronic system interfaces. Formalize an effective interface management approach.

  • Lead improvements in requirements management systems in support of the product team’s evolving needs.  Support Jama integration with TestRails and other corporate tools to ensure robust information management.  Ensure effective integration with Jira-based software requirements management.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrated leadership of cross-disciplinary teams in the development and productizing of robotic or other complex embedded systems (at least 10 years of experience).

  • Proven people management responsibilities, including performance management, employee relations, and workforce planning, recruiting, mentoring, facilitating meetings, managing conflict, motivating others, building teams, driving for results (prefer at least 5 years managing engineers).

  • Exceptional interpersonal, team building, organizational, prioritization, conflict management, written and oral communication skills.

  • BS in Engineering.  MS in Engineering and/or Engineering Management highly desirable.

  • Design of electro-mechanical embedded systems with familiarity of Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering and Embedded Software development competencies.

  • Extensive experience with high-volume manufacturing

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working in automotive manufacturing and assembly plants highly desirable (target application environment).

  • Industrializing new technology from research into mass production.

  • Mobile robotics, robotic manipulation, grasping, perception technologies, and walking robots.

  • Training and/or solid experience in the majority of key functional competencies:

    • Systems Engineering, including product architecting,

    • Authoring, reviewing, and approving a wide variety of requirements,

    • Reliability & robustness engineering methodologies, including boundary and parameter diagramming, DFMEA, DVP&R, root cause analysis, statistical methods.

    • Safety-critical system development, functional safety & SOTIF concepts

    • Human Machine Interfaces,

    • Hardware, software, and systems verification methods,

    • Rapid-prototyping manufacturing methods and prototype integration.

  • Experience in growing medium sized companies (100-2000 employees)
