Associate Software Engineer
Wilmington, DE
Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm EST plus on call every 3 weeks
As an associate software engineer on our team, you will be contributing to a dynamic and exciting, results oriented team that supports, maintains, and builds multiple, highly available, business critical APIs in a iterative and agile manner. If you enjoy solving difficult problems and building APIs, then this is the team for you.
Responsibilities
  • Troubleshooting and supporting multiple high volume, highly available, and business critical APIs
  • Being part of an on-call (some nights and weekends) rotation as part of our Run The Engine (RTE) team
  • Developing and debugging stable, scalable, and secure microservices and their related messaging (events)
  • Writing software in Java and Groovy
  • Reading OpenAPI and AsycAPI specifications and implementing them
  • Maintaining software deployment pipelines using CI/CD best practices
  • Be an active participant in the Scrum software development process by working closely with other team members to estimate stories and deliver working software

Basic Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience developing or troubleshooting software - recent graduate or on the job
  • Ability to problem solve when not always having complete information, leveraging observability tools such as Splunk and Elastic
  • Proficiency in Java and/or Groovy development
  • Proficiency with relational database development (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, etc.)
  • Proficiency in the Spring Framework and Spring Boot
  • Experience working with containerized application environments, such as AWS or Azure

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with building and supporting REST APIs and JMS events
  • Experience with full-stack development
  • Experience with unit testing and functional testing
  • Git and GitHub, Jenkins & CI/CD fundamentals
  • Experience developing 12-factor apps, that run in Kubernetes, RedHat OpenShift, or Azure
  • Experience on an Agile/Scrum team
  • Experience with AI tools, such as ChatGPT or GitHub Copilot to assist your software development
  • A BA/BS degree in Computer and Information Sciences or other relevant degree in the field
