The Assistant Dean, Graduate Online Nursing is accountable to the Associate Dean, Graduate Online Nursing and the Dean of The Richard and Sheila Young School of Nursing and ensures the integrity, excellence, and ongoing development of the online graduate nursing programs. The Assistant Dean is responsible for assisting and supporting the program’s administration in planning, curriculum, scheduling, supervision of faculty, nursing department and college meetings, events, service, and scholarly endeavors. The Assistant Dean will represent the school at various events for nursing regarding curriculum planning, faculty development, and graduate program meetings to ensure its integrity.


Essential Functions

Planning

  • Assists and supports the Associate Dean with the online graduate nursing programs in the development, implementation and maintenance of the curriculum.
  • Contributes to leadership vision for the program by maintaining active professional involvement with pedagogical direction in graduate nursing programs and introduces new initiatives.
  • Participates in and supports the Associate Dean in the administration of all online graduate nursing programs.

Curriculum Management

  • Assists the Associate Dean and Dean with activities related to curriculum implementation and development as well as new program initiatives.
  • Participates in analysis of outcome data and makes online graduate nursing program revisions based on outcomes.
  • Assists with curriculum development, revisions, program initiatives, working closely with Associate Dean and Boundless Learning LD team. 
  • Oversees PDs and CCs through the revision cycle and course revision process.

Schedule and Course Management

  • Work with the Associate Dean and team on the schedule, ensuring appropriate faculty with proper licensing are present in courses each semester.
  • Assists the Associate Dean with degree audits and curriculum plan changes.

Program Management

  • Collaborates and promotes interdisciplinary/inter-professional education curricula with faculty involvement.
  • Collaborates and assists the nursing program directors, course coordinators and faculty in maintaining the quality and integrity of the online graduate nursing programs, which includes evaluation of student course and faculty evaluation, curriculum workshops, and review of student integrity and/or progression issues.
  • Assists the Associate Dean in the evaluation of graduate nursing program directors and faculty.
  • Participates in the Master's Program Committee, DNP Program Committee, and School of Nursing Committee Meetings.
  • Participates in appointed College or School of Nursing committees as assigned by the Dean of Nursing.
  • Assists in monitoring accreditation guideline compliance for ACEN, NECHE, and other accreditation agencies.

Faculty Hiring and Management

  • Manages and participates in the recruitment, interviewing, recommendation and hiring of graduate faculty for academic and/or administrative appointments.
  • Implements and maintains a cohesive mentoring program in collaboration with the program directors and Associate Dean.
  • Assesses needs for faculty development for newly hired and senior graduate nursing faculty.
  • Promotes faculty development in teaching, research, leadership and other scholarly activities, as well as in community service.
  • Ensures and supports a conducive teamwork environment, including resolving concerns within the faculty and staff.
  • Assists the Associate Dean and Program Directors in activities related to faculty recruitment.

Student Advising

  • Collaborates and assists the Associate Dean in monitoring admissions.
  • Collaborates and assists the associate dean, program directors and faculty in maintaining the quality and integrity of the online nursing program. This includes being the point person for all student issues, including integrity and progression issues. 
  • Summarizes and reports student issues to associate dean and dean for collaborative decision making.
  • Collaborates and assists the Associate Dean with student retention data and assists in developing reports and recommendations.
  • Meets regularly with the student advisor to address student concerns.
  • Serves as a point person for concerns as indicated on chart of responsibilities.
  • Assists with activities related to recruitment and admissions.

Technology Planning and Management

  • In collaboration with the program directors and faculty and the Associate Dean, identifies software needs and solutions that will enhance and support graduate nursing program needs.
  • Meets regularly with the Boundless team.

Service/Scholarly Engagement

  • Participates in nursing research/public policy/nursing education/nursing leadership scholarly endeavors.

Other Responsibilities

  • Other responsibilities as designated by the Associate Dean and Dean of Nursing.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Direct contact and mentoring for program directors as designated by associate dean.
  • Works with associate dean on policies and procedures to improve processes to ensure fair and equitable management of the program.
  • Attends faculty meetings, PD meetings, and all other necessary SON meetings as deemed necessary by associate dean and dean.
  • Works with associate dean on Course Coordinator, Kick Off and Wrap Up meetings for each semester, as well as running the Clinical meeting each semester.
Qualifications

Requirements

  • Earned doctoral degree or currently enrolled in doctoral program.
  • Must have an NP certification.
  • Registered nurse in Massachusetts and APRN license in Massachusetts and designated states (or ability to obtain) with a master’s degree in nursing.
  • Ability to uphold the University’s commitment to inclusive excellence within a diverse learning community.
  • Experience in grant writing and submission, program administration, authoring scholarly papers, and engaging in other scholarly activities preferred.
  • Commitment to community and professional service.
  • Service as a college and program advocate for faculty, students, and external professional organizations.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

  • Work remotely from home. May require annual or periodic travel to campus.
  • Office environment that is private, not subject to extremes in noise, odors, etc.
  • May spend extended periods at computer, on telephone, or operating other office machines requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.

Compensation: $102,440 - $110,422 annually.
